Not the greatest game
My five year old got this for her birthday. She loves her Explorer, and was so excited to get the Kai Lan game, but she was immediately frustrated trying to figure out how to get started. Once she got going, however, she conquered the entire game in just a couple of hours. It seems like this game is pretty shallow compared to some others, like Toy Story, Mr. Pencil, Leap School. etc. Not a lot of challenges, and the games are pretty simple; cutting noodles, making dumplings, etc. The only one she really enjoys is the race, and that one because she likes to make the character fall down, which makes her laugh. My other gripe about the game (all Explorer games, actually) is that you can't get new dress-up clothing for Kai Lan without going online. When we first got the Explorer & tried to get online with it it completely whacked out our computer and we had to do all kinds of repair work to it - and we never could get online. So now we can't access any of the game features that are only available online. Very irritating, and disappointing for my daughter as well. I know we are not alone in this, as I have read many other horror stories about trying to connect to Leap World.I'm giving 3 stars only because my daughter still likes to play the simple games, and she just loves the Kai Lan characters.

Meets expectations, parent will need to assist child with math
My son enjoys playing with this game. Kids today are so inventive that another game he owns he completely figured out to use on his own, and he is only 4. He also figured out how to use the device itself on his own.So a couple of things with this game. 1) You will need to assist smaller children (i.e., 4 or even 5) who don't know basic addition to get through certain parts of this game. 2) The game has 4-5 sections you can go into (i.e., Ya Ya's House, Tolee's treehouse, etc.). I couldn't figure out where you had to go first, or if there was some sort of order to the game. It seems as though these are just random places you go through and they are not necessarily connected, which is fine.I would recommend this game for children who are fans of Kai-Lan and also for parents who would like to engage their children's knowledge of math.

Requires a lot of listening
This game requires much listening to know what you're looking for. It has you searching for a few things at a time (could be challenging for 3 or 4 year old at first). It teaches listening skills, number recognition, shapes, and counting (great reinforcement for preschool age). My 4 yr old daughter likes it, but it does do a lot of talking in certain parts of the game which causes her to become impatient. It also gives Chinese facts when you click on the little hidden ants in the game as an added educational bonus.

Super Happy Day is fun - but download the Micromods
My kids really like this game, but not at first. As you'll find with the LF Explorer games kids can earn tokens to use in LeapWorld as they use the games. I noticed the kids didn't play with this game much - so I (their Mom) played the game myself. After seeing what they needed to be able to play more, I linked the Explorer with the computer and added as many micromods I could for the Super Happy Day game using tokens - now they play it all the time. My children's ages are 3, 5 & 7. The three year old uses it the most.

I was surprised that this game did not do more ...
I was surprised that this game did not do more older interaction for math since it says to age 7. The school district teaches higher skills and my son lost interest quickly.

One of her faves...
My 4 (almost 5) yr old has had this game for about 6 months. It is perfect for her age. She really enjoys playing with it (even though she's not a big Kai-lan fan), and it gets much more use than some of her other Explorer games. Simple, entertaining games teach shape sorting, counting, measuring and more. You can change the settings to make the games more challenging as you child gets older. I am very happy with this purchase.

Ni Hao- Leappad2
My 4 year old son and 6 year old daugther loves this game. Some areas are a little hard for my son but it is a great fit for my 6 year old. My 4 year old is quickly learning some of the math function. The thing about this game and having a 4 and 6 year old is that my younger child is learning math facts much quicker than his sister did and that is because he doen't want her to be "smarter" then him.

I would really recommend this one to a parent who wants their child ...
I was really excited when I received this game for my 3 year old son. My son is a very eager and bright child. This game absolutely teaches them with mathematics and it goes step by step. My son is able to count identify numbers and patterns. This game not only teaches but also encourages the child to want to actually learn. I would really recommend this one to a parent who wants their child to learn.
