High quality, works great
This kit arrived very well packaged & in perfect condition. The equipment is high quality and works great. The directions are easy to follow & there's more info on the company's website. So far I've fermented milk kefir & sauerkraut using this kit. Both turned out beautifully. I would definitely purchase from this vendor again.

Awesome kit and really exceeded my expectations
This has been a great kit that exceeded my expectations. I got it to try and planned on get an expensive kit later, but I don’t need to now. The lids and glass weights are fantastic and way better quality than I thought they would be. The little instruction manual is helpful and easy for beginners. It is a great set and such a good price for all you get- especially the glass weights. I have made really good sauerkraut with the lids and since the lids fit regular mason jars, it is adaptable for whatever size jar you decide. Can’t recommend enough if you want a nice set for some home sauerkraut making.

Customer service is above and beyond.
So, I did a thing. In the past I've had trouble with fermentation projects going bad. I got this product to help prevent that. So when I was getting ready to put a giardiniera in jars I boiled the jars and thought, "Hmm, I should put the glass weights in there and sanitize them too." Well firstly that really isn't necessary since you can just scrub them with dish soap and be ready to go and second the pot with the jars was a little over crowded. When I pulled the weights out one of them had a crack in the glass right down the middle. It wasn't fully through and there was no loose glass so I figure it is still usable.I sent an email to the company to let them know what happened. I made it clear that I was at fault and didn't expect a replacement. I just wanted them to maybe warn against boiling the weights if that was an issue. The next day I got an email saying that they wanted to replace the weight and asked for an address. So I know that my review is not for the product but for the company, however, I have not yet finished a ferment with the product. That said I can say this. The Lids are great. With the pump you can get a really good vacuum on the jar to set up your anaerobic environment faster. The pump worked well and is easy to clean. The glass weights are heavy and (above issue not withstanding) seem sturdy.I will update this review after I have finished a couple batches.

Lids are great, but the weights will NOT fit in a Ball half-gallon jar.
These worked wonderfully for my first few Mason jar quart sized sauerkraut batches. No contamination, and easy to use. BUT I decide to move up to 2 quart -- half gallon -- jars for my next batch. I prepared all the cabbage, filled the new Ball jars, and then discovered the glass weights would NOT fit into the Ball jars; they were just slightly too big to fit into the wide-mouth big Ball jars. They fit easily into my quart Mason jars. I resorted to using the "zip-log bag of water" technique to weigh down the kraut. We will see how that goes....BE WARNED: If you are using Ball 2 quart jars, the weights will not fit in! See the picture. The lids are great -- the fermentation lids work very well.Should the manufacturer wish to send me some slightly smaller weights that do fit, I will be thankful... On that, I hold no hopes.

Super easy
Great set for fermenting! I love that you can vacuum the air out and almost never worry about mold. I even had some floaters and never got moldy. The date option is also handy, set the date on the lid and know exactly when it was started. I have done garlic, peppers, carrots, and onions. Do garlic by itself and when it's done fermenting blend into a paste to add to things like mashed potatoes, Alfredo sauce, marinara and whatever else you use garlic for. The amount of flavor is just unbelievable!

Lives up to the EASY name- love this no fuss method!
Fermenting, as a friend once told us, is a game of chance. There are positives and negatives. But most of all there are the wins like this product. I have tried a few rounds with fermenting - kimchi box, airlock system with the 3 piece attachment, and then this system. I have given my kimchi box to my aunt who makes it more, and I got fed up with airlock 3 piece but this one is staying. I got the box and immediately got cabbage and green beans and carrots. There are simple recipes in the book that comes with the set up. Made a successful batch of green beans- dilly beans - but go easy on red pepper if you don't like too much spice. Tried the carrots and it didn't exactly work but I think it was user not the product or it just didn't work as well. Going for cabbage sauerkraut next and already feeling like a fermenting pro. There is not a lot of guesswork with this product. It is straightforward and works. Prep ingredients, get brine together, place ingredients, pour, screw on lid, vacuum, set in cool dry place and in set days/weeks product ready. Transfer to fridge and enjoy. It really is simple so lives up to easy name. We love it. Now back to friend advice- just be patient. It can work (beans) and it may not (carrots) but keep trying. I have now made 4 batches of the beans and love the probiotic benefits healthy gut foods coming from home and not the store. When our garden produces this year, we will be ready to can and ferment!

The BEST fermenter lids! Thank you!
I bought these for my second attempt at fermentation. First was a bust because I bought a rubber grommet, lid with hole, and airlock at a beer and wine store. My tomatoes rotted! Very, very sad because they were the last good tomatoes from my garden. This time, I fermented peppers for hot sauce from my garden. It turned out better than you can imagine! I used a 10% salt brine solution by weight (but be advised I'm a saltaholic!) I read that you should use 2%-10% so I used 10%. The fermenter lids worked perfectly. Just screw them on and let it ferment! It's really that easy. I made chipotle (red ripe jalapenos) with garlic, cayenne with garlic, and mixed sweet and hot peppers with onion, garlic and carrot. They are all delicious and my friends cannot stop eating it! You've been warned--this stuff is like crack! My favorite is the chipotle.Even the leftover brine is amazing! My son jokingly calls it "satan's piss" haha because it's so salty and spicy.I'm going to ferment everything now! I bought 2 sets and I'm so happy that I did!
