What is the diameter?

This is smaller than the original WhamO Superball. The original one was at least 2in and made of the patented and very expensive, hard man-made rubber called Zectron invented in 1964 by the Bettis Rubber Company. It is still the bounciest ball ever made with being the only ball having the ability to be tossed at a 20 degree angle and bounce out at the same 20 degree angle. In the 70's the market got flooded with cheap obviously less-bouncy copies, so WhamO ceased all production in 1976. Early ones were black, later the real WhamO ones that I saw and bought back in the early 70's were a dull/flat Grayish-Blue in color. They were kinda dangerous. Once, I hit myself in the eye and saw LIGHTNING!! and got a nice "shiner". This one and all others are obviously a cheap copies. Look up the YT vid "Wham-O Super Ball Commercial (1960s)". If your ball doesn't bounce like this, it's not a real Superball made of Zectron.

What is the diameter of this ball? It’s listed as “Item dimensions: 7.25 x 2.75 x 2 inches, which is patently ridiculous for a spherical object.

the dimensions are for the blister pack the ball comes on. The 2-inch dimension is the blister size, so the ball is about 2 inches in diameter.

Are they good for playing with dogs?

No. The product is 50,000 pounds of compressed Zectron, which is what makes it bounce so high. The compression, however, makes the substance come apart with wear and a dog's teeth would cause it to come apart in the dog's mouth. And though it may or may not be toxic (I don't think it would), you still don't want it coming apart in the dog's mouth.

Brings back memories and makes more!

About a week ago, I was talking to my little sister about things I used to do when I was her age and the subject of bouncy balls came up. Turns out, she's never actually had one. She thought I was talking about ping pong balls! It shocked me a little because I had a tons of them when I was her age. I couldn't let the bouncy ball fun die with me, so I looked on Amazon for a range of them, but there weren't any of the good ones. Then I saw this one. For me, and many others, what's better than a regular bouncy ball? A Super bouncy ball! For as many as I had, I've never actually had a name brand bouncy ball and the reviews were good, so I was stoked and ordered two. I just got them today and all I have to say is WOW! I have to mention, I was a bit discouraged when I saw the size. They're only about an inch and a half big, but don't let their size fool you! They bounce just as good, if not higher, and feel WAY more sturdier than the super bouncy balls I've owned in the past. Needless to say, my sister tripped out and has been playing with it for hours now. I'm glad I could share some of my childhood joy with her, and I'm even happier I ordered one for myself because these things still rule!

Highest bouncer ever

This is the greatest superball I’ve ever used. I threw as hard as I could on my driveway that it took off like a rocket ship and bounced so high it went out of site and I never saw it again. It’s probably on the moon now.

not true reproduction

Seller did a good job. BUT this "Super Ball" is not the same as the original item from the 1960s. This one is about half the original size and is not the same form of plastic. It is not constructed with the original material and does not have same bounce - energy response.Grandson never saw the original so is not disappointed but I am.

Barely a Bouncy Ball

I ordered this just to have something to bounce around the house occasionally, but it is far too "lethal" for those purposes. This is NOT a soft rubber ball in any way and it does not have a soft texture to the way it feels. I don't know if it's because the box was clearly opened and taped shut from before, or because of age and it dried out, but either way the ball hits the floor with a very high impact - even if bounced lightly. In all honesty, I would be very afraid to be hit by this ball and it would probably pose a serious potential risk to damage windows if it ever got away from you. It really doesn't bounce very well either, though it might with enough force and if used on concrete or other pavement. There are probably cheaper and better ones from a gumball machine somewhere so don't waste your time or money on this one.
