Very solid, sturdy and actually have a little weight to them.Only needed something cheap to train moves and forms with but was actually very pleasantly surprised at the quality of these.

Perfect for sparring.

These training swords are great for generally practicing the movements of the Sword form, however they are too light to properly train your wrists and forearm muscles. The hand guard piece is also closer to the blade in these plastic swords compared to real Baat Jaam Dao, causing some pinching of my thumb when 'flipping'/rotating the blade in one hand.For practicing the movements and the forms, these are really useful, especially if you plan on practicing the forms to defend against the Long Pole, using these plastic swords saves having to buy a lot of expensive poles!

The products are not only much narrowed but also significantly and ridiculously much shorter than typical butterfly swords. Because of its reduced length, each blade can't cover the length of my 12-yr-old son's arm, making the product not very practical for dual-fight practice forms. In addition, each blade is a little too light, making it less realistic for exercising and less able to stand an attacking bo staff in the dual-fight practice forms. Obviously, the cost saving in the form of reduced product sizes is an unfortunate idea here.

When I ordered these swords, I did not have high expectations as I have had owned other plastic knives, and they were not all that sturdy. These are definitely sturdy and well made. They are also light, and not as heavy as metal practice blades, and that is a good thing. In the form, there are wrist moves that really take some time to build up to. Using a lighter practice weapon, allows you to build up to the metal based over time. Also, with the plastic blades, you're able to practice sparring drills with fewer injuries. Dull metal blades still hurt and can break bones. Overall, a great purchase.
