Game changer! Cuts frying spatter about 98%
I was so tired of cleaning up grease spattered all over the cook top and counters that I decided to give this expensive gadget a try. It's a winner and well worth the price! Makes clean up so easy now.I like to use it fully extended on top of the pan. I like the 10" pan best, even though the opening on top is smaller - that helps keep the spatter in better. The 8" side lets a bit more spatter escape out the larger top opening. Both work great frying steaks at a high temp to get a good sear and crispy fat. I also like that all that grease/fat that was escaping as spatter is now better kept in the pan for making Au Jus (or pan drippings), which I pour over my steaks.Easy to clean. I don't collapse mine, as there were plenty of reviews saying the seams split. Although it seems to happen more with the purple units (why I ordered red instead). Only issue I have is splashing myself while washing it - I'm getting better at avoiding that. The water hits the rim which aims it out of the sink. Interesting side effect.Highly recommend if you cook foods that splatter. I cook steak every day, so this is a major improvement for helping to keep the kitchen clean after cooking. I'm thrilled with this gadget.

This is so much better than a splatter guard.
We had this dome for about 6 months and we contacted the merchant about a concern. This was resolved promptly and the product is well made and works so well.My wife used this a few times a week and keeps the kitchen clean. When you are finished you simply collapsed the dome for spade saving.Although I have not used the lid, it comes with one which is such a great idea. I hope this lasts a long time and it’s made of silicone- so no nasty BPA chemicals

The Good, Bad, and Ugly
The SplatterDom Splatter Guard is a new alternative to lids and the venerable screen splatter guard. It works in its way and/but I think the traditional will outlast it. The SplatterDom isn’t a better mousetrap; it’s just different with its own drawbacks.I bought the 8”/10” size. It nicely fit All Clad 8” & 10” skillets and 7.5” & 9.5” French skillets, and OXO 8” & 10” fry pans, all without any lid leakage. And it did indeed contain splatter from all in every instance. But not, in my opinion, better than lids and splatter screens.Consider: What splatters on the stove? Bacon, burgers, steaks, sausage, chicken, perhaps eggs, anything you fry, all of which need turning or working in the pan. The SplatterDom must be removed for that, just like lids and screens, and you’d best have a 10” plate to put it on AND be very careful not to have the caught splatter drip in the process. You can work the food through the hole at the top but good luck turning a steak with a pair of tongs, especially when using the 10” pan; and an egg turner? No way.. And if you work the pan to move the food around or flip it, forget that. Also note that the SplatterDom hides the food you’re cooking, completely so if you use its lid. Traditional glass liks and screens preserve visibility. And the SplatterDom writeup says lids trap steam and so on (but most lids nowadays have a steam vent); the SplatterDom does, too, despite the hole in its top.But the SplatterDom works. So do lids and splatter screens, with less weight, easier manipulation, and (I think) easier cleanup (your milage may vary).I had been excited about the SplatterDon’s potential in the microwave. Every 3-4 weeks I microwave 4 lbs or so of bacon using multiple loads of a Presto 0501, great at doing the bacon but a splatter disaster. I’ve learned to fashion Bounty Select-A-Size sheets into a workable but imperfect tent so I hoped a SplatterDom would be the solution. And it fit nicely over the Presto, and that all just fit in the microwave (but note I have a large, 1.6 cu ft microwave - the assembly wouldn’t fit in most microwaves.)The first issue was the bacon laden Presto with the SplatterDom was unwieldy, and heavy. Putting it on the microwave turntable wasn’t difficult but it was a chore. Taking it out was no walk in the park either, because the SplatterDom was unexpectedly HOT, and adding oven mitts to the process created a challenge. But the issue of note was that it took almost half again as long to cook the bacon! I’m guessing from the temperature of the SplatterDom that the collected grease splatter intercepted the microwaves from getting to the bacon completely. Weak microwave? It’s a fairly new 1150w unit so I don’t think so.And when I took the SplatterDom off the Presto to unload the bacon there was an even greater drip issue than with the stovetop. I’ll stick with my paper towel ten.I’m not a materials engineer but I think the SplatterDom could be made of thinner, lighter silicone, and that would help its handling. But its design creates issues for the way I cook (I think it’s heavy and unwieldy), and the way I think most people cook. And several spatter scrrens and lids can be had for the price of one SplatterDom.But for all that, it works, and people who want the latest and greatest will be intrigued by it; so for that I’ll give it three stars, and gift it to one of those people if I run across them LOL! I also think those people will return to tried and true lids and splatter screens. There are good reasons they’ve been around for so long and remain the gold standard.

A bit pricey, but works GREAT at keeping oil splatter in the pan!
We cook a lot of chicken breast with just salt and EVOO for dinner for my picky son with autism. It's what he wants basically every night. Since it's only ever a single breast we just use a small 8" pan for the job, but I have grown SO TIRED of cleaning the oil splatter off my gas stove top and the surrounding areas that I decided to look for something that would help prevent it and stumbled upon this. I have used a product called the FryWall before, and it works well but is big and bulky and cumbersome to use and store whereas this collapses down, is much easier to clean, has a lid and works with two different sizes of pan (the one I bought works with 8" & 10". So far I love it!It's not too deep to make it impossible to flip individual pieces of chicken, it fits great on my little T Fal 8" and my Ninja 10" pans, stays put during cooking, is sturdy and feels very substantial and well made, is super easy to clean and is dishwaser safe! I also LOVE that it has a lid with a steam hole! The lid is meant for use in the 10" size position, but I have found that even upsides down (in the 8" position) it will still rest on one of the lips on the inside and can be used.It has kept the splatter off my stove 100% and I am thrilled to have it! When not in use, it collapses down and stores in the same drawer as my pans. My only quibble is that it seems a bit overpriced in my opinion for what it is, but I absolutely can't complain about it doing its job exactly as advertised!I sincerely hope this review has been helpful to someone else! And yes, I paid full price for it. Feel free to ask any questions!

It Works
If you're tired of Grease all over splattering on the floor and all over the stove this is what you need. It is easy to use and easy to wash. It's very effective very minimal splatter comes out the top and I suppose you could use the lid although I don't. It's also easy just to lift up and turn the food over or whatever it is you need to do.

Melted at a seam
I was surprised when it separated at a seam when using it correctly on a stovetop frying pan. Worked well for keeping the splatter off my stove until this happened.

Amazing product and easy to use!
I’m so glad I bought this SplatterDom. I no longer cook/fry without this product. I was so impressed with how well it works that I bought it as a gift for my relatives in New York. I used it for my chicken soup, and the soup didn’t spill over and cause a disaster to my stove, all was completely contained by my SplatterDom. The SplatterDom also really is very easy to clean. It saves so much time; now I spend less time cleaning the stove and countertops. Its folding feature is amazing, making it easy to store while taking up minimal space. Would definitely recommend!

Don’t fit the pots
It would have been great if it had fit either of my pots. For that reason I had to return it.. great idea thought.

Great product!
I'm so glad I got this SplatterDom splatter protector! I've tried other screen guards before but they still allow splash through and you need to remove them to stir. I loved that the SplatterDom allowed continuous access to my food, all while keeping the stove top clean. I've used this product several times to fry food such as latkes (which are normally very messy), and was so impressed with how well it worked and kept everything clean. I also really liked the folding feature of the product which allows it to be stored easily while taking up minimal space. Would definitely recommend!
