Finding the Funny Fast: How to Create Quick Humor to Connect with Clients, Coworkers and Crowds

This should be read and on the reference book shelf of every comedy writer or comedian. I started my comedy journey 5 years ago (I'm now 56), and purchased several books on writing comedy. Jan's book has been one of the most practical and helpful. It get's right to the principles and "short-cuts" of finding the funny. Info I immediately incorporated into my writing--especially when preparing custom material for the group I'm performing for. Since applying what I learned in Jan's book, I've built a 2nd career as clean comedian and motivational speaker. I now earn nice speaking fees, and have performed for such groups as the Alaska National Guard, First Republic Bank, Travelers Insurance, and many other companies, churches and non-profit organizations.I had the great pleasure of seeing Jan perform at a Saint Agnes Hospital benefit, and she practices what she preaches. I bought this book a year ago. I still carry it in my bag with me.This book rescued me several times when I had to speak impromptu, and people never failed to laugh at my jokes that I created by using the techniques from this book.I always recommend this book to all public speakers.Thank you, Jan! Fantastic read and easy to understand approach to seeing the humor right in front of you. As a 20-year comic, I can honestly say this book is definitely worth the small amount of change it costs. Each page makes you want to know more. In other words, for me it was a page turner. I marveled at how someone had finally given comics and non-comics easy to follow ideas and humorous examples without bogging the reader down with confusing theory. Great for comics and speakers alike!

If you're looking to find the funny fast, this book is for you! Definitely recommend as it is full of great ideas that really helped me become more powerful and funny onstage.

I love this book! I have read several comedy books and this is a STAND OUT book. Jan's experience and expertise shine brightly and leads the way to finding the funny fast. I have been clowning around for a couple of decades and found the easy to read, easy to use and effective. You can never learn too much about sharing comedy. The inspiration in this book is moving me to be even funnier, and those around me too. I teach a laughter class and am recommending this book to all!

A reasonable read but not funny. Its basiccally for writing humour only.Gives a few good ideas but not as useful as expected.
