Update: I still like the quality of the cameras but they can be really frustrating in some regards. Like the fact that I’ve just changed internet providers for the second time since I’ve owned them. There is no way to update them to a new wireless system. All you can do is remove them from the app and reinstall them. Which wouldn’t be a huge deal if the removal process would allow them to be reinstalled. But it’s not that simple. You have to completely reset them. Again, not a huge thing if the reset button were not underneath the little door where the memory card goes. I’ve had three neck surgeries & have a bunch of hardware in my neck. So I either have to climb a ladder and take down the entire camera in order to reset it. Or, remove the tiny little screws from the door while standing on a ladder outside and reset the camera, then put the little door back on. It’s ridiculously difficult to do when they could just allow a reset from the app. And I have no idea if, once all this is completed, if I will be able to access the video that is already stored on the memory card from the previous wireless account. Which stinks because I think the installer of the new wireless broke a deck box in my back yard while installing the wiring at the back of my home. The only way to know for sure is to view the videos stored on the card. So if they broke it, I may not have any proof to get reimbursed for it. UGH!!!! I’ve had these cameras for a long time now and realized even though I’m very impressed with them, I never wrote a review. I think for the money, they are the best cameras you could buy. They are simple to set up and install. They will accept micro sd cards for storing video so you do not require a service or a monthly fee. I chose these because they will track movement. So I can see my dogs or my child wherever they go in my back yard. I set up two: one on one side of the back door and one on the other. The only stipulation is they require an outlet to plug them in. But I have a pool in back so I have outlets in several places for plugging in the pool robot and entertainment devices. I can view both cameras via an app on my phone or my Alexa Show device. The image quality is good and with both I can see my entire back yard. I highly recommend these cameras to anyone looking for some simple home security or just the security of being able to keep an eye on your pets or children in your yard.

This security camera is awesome! For the price it is top notch! It has so many great features and has an amazing range. Pan, tilt, detection, everything works great. Playback runs seamlessly! Will be purchasing a few more of these!

This is one of my favorite cameras—I’ve had it for over 3 years (maybe even longer), and it has never given me any issues. It’s been very reliable the entire time. The apps (Tapo or Kasa) are amazing—super easy to use and simple to set up and program. The video quality is excellent, and setting up notifications is quick and straightforward. I also like the size of the camera—it’s not too big or too small, and it blends in well. Most people don’t even notice it at the entrance, which is a nice bonus. As long as it’s plugged in, there’s no need to worry about battery life at all. Overall, a great security camera that I would definitely recommend!

These cameras are fantastic! Great picture quality, features and performance, plus they are easy to setup with the app. I was also able to easily set them up for use with my NVR system. The only reason I did not give them 5 stars is because you cannot change the rtsp port on them so that you can port forward for remote viewing without using their app.

I have several brands of security cameras running around my house. This one is my favorite because the pictures are good, sound is good, and it is responsive to the controls when moving it around. One area it may lack however is that it has went a little crazy on us over the winter. The motion alarm (that I have shut off - because why?) will randomly go off for HOURS until I use the app, shut the motion alarm back off and it is fine again until the next update. Then it is crazy motion alarm time again. I don't know why it does this, but it does. I did not opt in for the cloud service they offer, I figure I am opening enough of my life to the company without also storing my recordings on their servers. I use a 256GB SD card, and it has worked perfectly. If it goes on sale again, I will buy one for the other corner of my house (Mine is tucked under the eave behind the gutter so it is always dry, shaded, clean, and WAY too high to fuss with). (Edit): Purchased a second one for the corner of my garage, and I have found that the WiFi is not very receptive at distance. My other outdoor network things work well out there, but this camera is not happy.

This is our third TAPO security camera. We have two indoor cameras and this is our first outdoor camera. These cameras are great! Even in 2K, the clarity is fantastic both day and night. Very easy to install and get going through the app. The outdoor camera has great range and mobility with a spotlight and speaker.

This is great, we upgraded from another camera and so far the quality has been great with this camera. It catches everything with motion detection, even the rain during a storm. Bought on sale, for the price the camera is perfect considering it's features such as setting specific locations that you may want to look at with the press of a button. It also has a patrol mode which follows movement it sees. At night the quality of the picture is just as good as during the day, nearly making out facial features from across the street. Our only gripe is that it sometimes has a hard time connecting to the Internet after an outage and doesn't like connecting to Internet extension box, has to be manually connected instead of automatically. There's almost no delay in checking the camera using Cellular Data if you are away from the house. There's also a privacy mode if you are planning a surprise that you don't want anyone else with access to see. If your on the fence about upgrading or buying one of these in general it's my opinion that this is a decent investment for the price. There are more expensive cameras that do way less with worse quality. We have the white camera, not sure if it comes in any other color honestly.

Excellent Products, Outstanding Customer Service After starting with a competitive (and yes, cheaper) competitor's camera, I decided to try Tapo because I have several TP-Link devices and a WiFi router already installed in my house, and they have performed flawlessly. Good decision! My first Tapo camera choice was a wired C510W, which I wanted for our front porch, This Pan/Tilt camera is very well constructed, and easy to install. (Tapo even provided an extra screw. Who hasn't had a dropped/lost screw turn an easy install into an unfinished nightmare?) Once installed and connected, it worked almost exactly as expected, and provided excellent video. One minor shortcoming is that the "person detect" function applies some sort of AI processing after the camera has detected motion, so you cannot easily limit recordings only to people. Turning on motion detection means capturing any movement first, and then post-processing to see if people were captured. Generated lots of recordings without people in my case. Still, really great camera controls and filters and settings to help minimize false event recording, which I did eventually master. Good notification tools and easy controls and access to review recorded video without wasting a lot of time searching. EXCELLENT camera! Another good indication of the company's thinking is the web-based optional service provided free for the first month with the camera purchase. When the one-month trial ends, the service is terminated by default (!), so you are not automatically enrolled in the service with recurring costs every month. Easy to subscribe and keep it going, of course. My second camera was a fully wireless C425 with an integrated PIR motion detector to specifically identify and capture people or pets, to monitor comings and goings of animals in our back yard. Again, easy to install and connect, and again, a spare screw for the fumble-fingered amon us. The PIR makes recording of animals and people a breeze. The battery life is very good so far, although I have a lot of squirrels in the yard, so the camera wakes up often. Still, after three weeks of recording squirrels abd rabbits, the battery is still at 83%, more than meeting my expectations. Totally satisfied with the PIR funcionality and the camera features overall. Another W=EXCELLENT camera. As a final note, Tapo's customer service has been simply outstanding. Quick, knowledgable, relevant responses, and an obvious commitment to customer satisfaction make this arguably the best company I've ever dealt with when it comes to customer support.
