Perfectly fit my 53 gallon whiskey barrels. They will release pressure, if it builds, but also keeps out air and dust and bugs.

Modify to keep it in place.
Had to drill holes in the edges and secure to carboy with zip ties. Has a tendency to pop out otherwise. Installed in a 54l container.
