I bought the OSI because some places I go the double edge of the OSS is verboten. For me the sheath gives you all the options you’d want for carry. Cold steel quality. Sharp and large. Palm swell could be a touch larger, but I still love it. If you’re on the fence, just buy it.

This is a great knife for any amount of money, especially for around $50. Based off of the sub hilt design which allows a postive secure grip with the finger tab and the rubber grip. And yes these rubber grips have proven to hold up for YEARS unlike what others may say.This knife is also single edge for those who have restrictions on daggers like the OSS knife. Great size for every use, not small and certainly not the giant knife that is unneccessary for most applications. Heavy enough for heavy duty uses and light enough for fast deploy. It is also proven: as it has been out for a few years now with no adverse reviews. Made in taiwan. pretty blunt edge marked aus 8A I will sharpen on my grinder well oiled. Hope it takes an edge. pretty happy except for the way the edge is ground. I guess you don't always get what you pay for these days! The light weight is nice for such a long blade. I will update this review if it doesn't take an edge or rusts I did try to sharpen but soft metal. do not believe it is hardened steel, more like a table knife

Got this a while back, seems to be holding up fairly well. Chopped through a 2x4 (or rather several) and developed some micro-nicks in the blade. This is because AUS8 steel is relatively soft (quality of the knife is not at fault here) Lost a tiny portion of the tip (just the V grind portion) with some relatively tough stab testing, reprofiling the tip is fairly easy if you know what you're doing. If you're into subhilts, or need a "survival knife" this can be a great budget alternative to some other blades out there. The full-flat grind makes it a good chopper, and splitter. Very well balanced. For the price, you can't really go wrong.

The OSI is a great self defense knife. You won't baton wood with it, or chop, etc. This knife is designed to fight, and is extremely light and fast in hand. It gets razor sharp ,and the entire package weighs almost nothing. Its a joy to carry ,and is a little extra peace of mind when on the trail.The sheath is okay. It holds the knife tight, but drawing can dull the blade (Just like kabar's fake kydex sheath). It is light weight, and will be fantastic once I get a tech lock or something similar.

Took this knife hunting and it proved to be an excellent product.Very sharp right out of the package and is very secure in it's sheath.

Great knife for the price. The Coldsteel OSI is lightweight for its size and fits well in the hand. The Kraton handle is a Sub-hilt with a nice palm swell. The blade is Japanese aus 8 steel and comes razor sharp out of the box. Probably not your first choice for an all around camping, woodworking jungle knife or for processing if that's what your looking for. It's design is perfect for taking or finishing a hog or just having on your hip during a hunt for backup. Could also be used as a fighter/defense knife or walking dead survival scenario option if you're into that. Overall great buy if you like knives
