This lock is exactly what I was hoping for. I wasn’t sure how it would work exactly but after my husband got it all installed, it’s amazing. The lock attaches to the sliding door and the peg slides up into a hole that is drilled in the top of the frame. There are no issues opening or sliding the door with this installed and when it’s locked with the key, there is no way to open it. You can lock with or without a key, but without a key, it’s not child proof. We bought this to keep my autistic almost ten year old son inside the house and to prevent eloping. We’ve been having issues with him waking up and letting himself out in the backyard to play in the very early morning hours while the rest of the family is still sleeping. Today he woke up, came downstairs and was very upset to see the new lock. He tried everything he could to get it open. You can see he’s already scraped and scratched it up trying to get it unlocked or ripped off, however it is truly child proof. It may not be pretty and in perfect condition anymore, but I have peace of mind knowing it’s great quality and strong. The tried so hard to get out this morning and nothing worked. This lock will keep my child safe.

I’ve used this brand multiple times and it never disappoints. The installation is quick and straightforward—no unnecessary hassle. The lock feels sturdy and secure, and the key function works smoothly every time. Definitely my go-to choice for sliding patio doors. I only tried a different brand once because of shipping delays, but I’ll stick with this one whenever possible.

Gives me a bit more peace of mind when I'm not at home. Easy to attach, I'm using it down low for a few reasons, my door is 1973 era so it was easier to mount on bottom so that the bolt goes through the solid sill plate. I don't mind having to set one more lock before leaving. The bolt can be pulled out if you want after unlocking, just twist it as you pull upwards or downwards if you mount yours above at top of door. Easy to use, hardware is solid build, worth it in my opinion.

Lock installs easily; however on our doors the bolt was not enough to secure the door against multiple pulls on the handle in a row - the door still opened from the bottom, with the bolt acting as a pivot/hinge point which jostles loose and falls downward again (even in locked key position), allowing easy access inside in the event of a break in. We have instead opted for a more secure bar system.

Really like this lock- got it to help secure our sliding door so our autistic son doesn’t try eloping. It adds such peace of mind. It fits perfect and looks like it belongs. It seems like it will last a lifetime- the lock isn’t anything that will snap or break. It’s thick and we needs a decent drill bit to get the whole for it started but it was well worth it.
