How good is this for recording audio from a audio mixer and mic?

No way. Way too much latency. I returned mine for sound blaster z for this reason

do you require 2 x pciex1 slots free to connect it, or just one..? I take it two case slots are required - either large/small as it has adaptors?

You need one free pciex1 port on your computer, but you need two free slots, however, the slots don't have to be next to each other. The cable that plugs the second set of connections (the digital) into the first is pretty long, you could plug the card into a port and then cable over another card to a free slot and use that for the second set of connection.

Does it work on Windows 10

Yes it does, although I have not used the SPDIF/Optical ports yet. Terratec have updated Win 10 drivers on their site.

does this support dts and dolby

I don't know as I don't use them.
