thriveComfy Collar, Extra Large

A big no-no for a big dog!
I have an American Akita, and he had to wear the 'funnel' or the 'lampshade' owing to an injury on his left hind leg. I couldn't stand seeing him in the funnel - and besides, he was definitely like a bull in a china shop whilst wearing it! I opted to find him something more comfortable and far less cumbersome so I purchased the XL Thrive Comfy collar. The first one that came was holier than a church on Sundays, so I called Amazon CS, and they were brilliant. They sent me a new one without any ado and I really appreciated their trust in me as they did not ask me to send the faulty one back to them. However, insomuch as I could see how the collar itself could work for smaller dogs as well as be comfortable for them, it just didn't do the trick with my Bear; before I knew it he was stretching his over his comfy collar and licking away at his wound.NOTE: If you have a dog with a long body such as an Akita or Dachshund for example, and their wound IS NOT around their hind parts, than this could be a very good and cost effective collar for them.

Amazing!!!
Oh my goodness thank you so much whoever invented this product my American bulldog was neutered and also had something cut out of his head meaning I had to protect him from both ends the cone that was supplied by the vets literally drive him insane and he was running into things and really freaked out by it , his stitches would have split if I'd of left it on so I took it off and waited for this product to arrive the next day and counting hours and hoping that it will be somewhat effective he has now had it on for two days and he is perfectly used to it you can I'll go to the garden and toilet using it he can get his hugs as usual he hasn't scratched his head or other end! It has straps for his collar which I had to tie it to as initially he pulls it straight off I can't believe he's still wearing it plus it has enough give for him to sleep quite comfortably cuddled in my bed as usual thank goodness for this collar honestly this should be provided in every vet surgeon that does neutering another operations my dog has a 22 inch colour I ordered the extra large which is 22 to 26 inches and it's perfect

Inflatable collar
My dog has an injury to his face which he keeps scratching with his back foot. Having seen other reviews, and noted comments regarding this product and its potential limitations, it did seem as though it might work for what I needed it for - and it does.It has an inflatable plastic tube wrapped inside the outer shell, which actually looks a bit like leather but obviously isn't. There is a hole in the outer case through which the inflation nozzle can be threaded. The outer also has a zip so the inner inflation tube can be accessed or removed. I mention this because I found it easier to inflate the inner by unzipping the case, than by the access hole - as the inflation nozzle is rather small and fiddly, hence only 4*. It is secured in place with a Velcro strap (and is therefore adjustable) and also has loops so it can be fastened to a collar. In terms of its effectiveness, its a useful deterrent and certainly makes it more difficult for him to scratch the affected area, although I'm not sure its sufficiently wide to prevent a more determined effort given how flexible and resourceful dogs can be! However, this, coupled with a thick sock on the hind foot should do the trick and give the area chance to heal.He doesn't seem to mind wearing it and its tolerated far better, and looks considerably more comfortable than the plastic cone type collars.

Great for my dog and my legs are safe!
Very good for my Golden Retriever who gets hot spots on his head and needs to wear a collar sometimes for weeks on end. Its comfortable and not too intrusive. Huge improvement on the buster collars which clatter around and inhibit the dog's side visionIt does lose a little air over a few days but easily re inflated. Its robust enough to survive my hyper active hound and one of the best things about it is it doesnt leave bruises all over my legs when he crashes into me!! I was constantly black and blue when he wore a buster collar - those things are lethal 😁😁

GOOD FOR ABOUT A WEEKS USE
First thin first. I consider this expensive for what it is. It is poorly made, poorly finished and anything but robust and capable of anything other than casual wear and tear. My 11 months retriever is a very laid back and calm individual. He went absolutely mental at the Elizabethan collar but accepted this alternative very quickly. That said, it did it's job and stopped him trying to lick his no longer present gonnades. He is also a clever beasty and it took him just a couple of hours to work out how to remove the collar by pressing against a wall and walking backward. We got around this with the use of a walking and car harness, linking it to the collar. As I have said, it is poorly made with very cheap lightweight materials. In two days, stitching was splitting and separating. The velcro and material were separating with the material tearing where the velcro was held in place between the two open parts of the collar. The loops for putting a collar through are as poorly made, very small pieces of ribbon and adds to the poor quality. All of that is the negative. The only positive, largely thanks to the very calm laid back dog and our constant keeping and eye on hime, is that access to the bit he was trying to get at was denied. If your dog is anything other than calm, you do not have the time, means to watch constantly I believe the collar will be scrap long before it even gets a chance to do it's job. Suitable for the one piece of use yes, another in the future, maybe, but only if you have the time skill and materials to rebuild, reinforce and repair. I cannot say I hate it but alternatives would have to be really bad to match or be worse in terms of quality
