Full-featured web management, ONVIF-compliant, excellent image clarity!
This has a very thorough and easy to use web-based management interface you can get to by logging into it's IP address. It'll then make you set up a password (factory settings can easily be restored from the reset switch in case you forget it) and you'll be give a ton of useful and easy to understand settings to configure, should you wish to. The included paper manual is actually better than most, too, though it does not cover everything, just the basics. The main thing for me was making sure ONVIF and RTSP streaming were enabled, and with them on this is basically universal and works with VLC, ffmpeg, and my VMS-NVR software, no problems at all.I love that the reset button and micro SD card slot on this are under a weatherproof screw-down cover, not a cheap rubber flap, and even better, the screws are tor-X, not standard, so nobody will be just popping it open without a proper tor-X head handy (they do give you a simple one in the box). I prefer to store my footage on a mirrored disk array in my server, but the micro SD card slot makes for a decent emergency backup if you really need to go back for some lost video. One thing I learned while getting familiar with this is that ONVIF viewing isn't usually compliant with the HEVC H265 codecs- I was getting a blank screen for the live view in my NVR and only after changing the sub stream codec to H264 did the live view over ONVIF work for me. The MAIN stream can be H265, and you probably want that for a smaller file size for your saved footage, but the SUB stream should be H264 in most cases. Just passing that on in case someone reading this is new to this, like I am. With resolution at max and the settings in my screenshot of the stream setup page, my 5-minute recordings were between 44MB to 64MB each, so the H265 compression was really good, for how crisp and detailed the footage was.Power draw was also incredibly efficient- I only got this to pull 2.4 Watts with the spotlight on, 2 Watts with the infrared night vision, and hovering around a mere 1 Watt during daylight use. That's just incredible, frankly, how little power it uses while streaming such good footage, and I was really happy with that. The night vision is sharp and has good depth to it also, no problems there, and it switches between day and night vision pretty smoothly, in about a second or two.In the end I wasn't just happy with this, my expectations were even exceeded! This is a very rugged, low-energy, high-quality camera, universally compliant, easy to manage, and quite secure. I am absolutely thrilled I chose this, and would not hesitate to do so again, it gets a full 5-stars from me!

A great security camera for the money
Upon receiving this camera, the first thing I noticed was how heavy and well-built it is. This is a tough piece of equipment.I was very impressed (and surprised) by the video quality of this camera. Having had some professional experience with much more expensive cameras, I honestly did not expect much at this price point, but the video is crisp and clear, even in low light.One-way audio is available via an onboard microphone and is reasonably clear; certainly clear enough for security purposes. As stated in the specifications, the camera may be powered using the 12V barrel jack or standard 802.3af Power-over-Ethernet. I happen to have have a Power-over-Ethernet switch in the network distribution center for my home, so I opted for PoE. It worked flawlessly. The SADP program, for finding the camera and configuring IP settings, is very easy to use. It took me no time at all to figure it out and get the camera accessible on my home network.A free program called iVMS can be used to manage the camera and storage if you plan to use this camera in a system with a network video recorder. If you decide to use iVMS, be prepared to do your homework, as the iVMS-4200 manual is nearly 400 pages. I don't plan to buy an NVR, opting instead to (hopefully) use ZoneMinder with my home NAS, so I don't have a lot to say about iVMS, but I did install it and it does look like a full-featured program.Motion detection works well. My tests with email notifications worked fine. (If you use Gmail with 2FA, you will want to set up a separate app password for each camera. App passwords bypass Google's two-factor authentication on a device-by-device basis). I don't think that having the camera itself handling such functions is necessarily a good security plan, but if you need a basic notification function like this while you are working out your broader security scheme, this might be a good temporary measure. After all, any security measure is better than no security measures. One thing that I could not figure out is how to define storage within the camera's web interface. There is a section where HDDs (hard disk drives) can supposedly be managed, but nothing appears in the list and nothing can be accomplished there. What should appear here? Which hard disks? There's room for at least 20 items, but the camera itself has exactly one MicroSD slot, and MicroSD cards are not hard disk drives, so what should we be seeing? Very strange. Quite a bit is said in the help section, but there is no explanation as to where these HDDs might be or why the list might be empty.Other than that last bit of confusion, I am really happy with this camera and actually placed a "Cyber Monday" order for two more. My neighbor was recently burgled and I don't want to be the next victim.

Built like a tank
This camera is built well while others have alot of plastic this metal where it matters.I wasn't able to get this to work with my NVR but I did test this with a micro SD card and a POE injector directly to my switch.I like the ease of use the quality of the image set up independently of the nvr was easy. While Ideally this would be an addition to my network video recorder I'm keeping this as an independent camera.Decent night vision great color vision with spot light enabled.

Very well built high quality turret camera
I am using this on a POE system to monitor an area outside my home. My setup is run using BlueIris, a third party cam software. This camera was flawlessly simple to set up with BI and provides a quality picture day or night . This camera is generally full featured and can be set up for motion detection. It has one way audio as well. I am confrontable having this in an outdoor environment. It is sturdy, seems very weather secure and performs excellently for my application.
