short chimney?
The joys of a bungalow are all very well but a short chimney on a cold windless day is nothing short of a menace to asthmatics when you are trying to light the wood burner. This moderate device makes one bask in the joys of an accomplished engineering mind. Note to self. I do not have such a mind. Which is why I bought this chimney cowl. Easy to fit especially with two on the roof. Picks up the merest drift of wind and off you go. Beware. It is sharp so don't try and stop it with gloveless hands when it has picked up speed. You may lose digits. It is not the cheapest option but it is well made and I am much happier without all and sundry wheezing like a bag of grampus when a cold day requires a roaring fire.

Easy to install yourself.
This looks a quality item, well built and easy to fit yourself. It was delivered on time and well packaged. Await to see its performance in action when we light the wood burner.

It works!
The main reason to purchase was to stop rain water entering This was to replace a larger and cheaper version purchased two years ago. The original, whistled, bearings seals melted, pop rivited slats fell off. After doing a few repairs and modifications. Bearings failed, stop rotating and riveted slats started to fall off. Decided to purchase this one and waited to review. It's silent, spins easily in slightest breeze. Easily installed as fitted on pot top flat surface. Used the additional drop down attachments. After strong winds it is still there, Happy spinning not effected by heat from my large woodburner. Maybe take it down, clean and spray with high heat resistant black spray and cut the excess of the fixing screwed rods. Robustly made, worth the money. Recommended buy.

Well made and works well.
Bought this to go on a new chimney pot as we were reverting to an open fire. Our problems, which this solved, were lack of draught and keeping out the elements (and birds). Easy to fit and well made item. Very happy.

Excellent product. Has stopped all downdrafts down my chimney ...
Excellent product. Has stopped all downdrafts down my chimney and has noticeably helped updraft for my burner. Really glad I bought one, should have done it sooner. Read instructions carefully but installation relatively straightforward, do not overtighten bolts and screws but make sure they are secure - the cowl spins even in the lightest breeze.

Looked great! Worked a treat.... Until it was windy
Unfortunately this cowl has failed in the high winds. Only lasted 6 weeks and has now gone beyond the return window. Very upset with this product. May had been faulty from the start as brought as used however the item appeared new (maybe a return?). Can't recommend this product as it did not perform as described. Perhaps the newer model is better.

Excellent
A very good quality item which fits and works well, but took a while to get here? Should last for many years to come?
