The Middle: The Complete Fourth SeasonPatricia Heaton, Neil Flynn, Charlie McDermott, Eden Sher and Atticus Shaffer star as the middle class, middle of the country (i.e. Orson, Indiana) Heck family in this warm and witty comedy about raising a family and lowering your expectations. While Frankie continues to struggle selling cars at the only remaining car dealer in town, an unexpected turn of events might force her to reevaluate her career path. Axl’s slothlike days are numbered, now that Mike’s made it his mission to ensure that his oldest son somehow earns a sports scholarship and goes to college next year. Meanwhile, Sue’s not only navigating high school, but wants to navigate Indiana roads – by getting her driver’s license. It’s no wonder that youngest son Brick keeps his nose in a book!]]> Review: Funniest, most underrated sitcom in recent memory - Picking out a favorite season of "The Middle" would be like picking a favorite child (although Mike had no problem picking Axl, much to Frankie's dismay), but season 4 is definitely a standout, building on previous seasons, adding new elements and characters into the mix, and continuing if not improving upon the show's characteristic comedy and heart. Notable developments this season include Brick getting a bunny (which turns out to be a holy terror), yet another hole being made in the wall between Sue and Brick's room, Frankie losing her job at Ehlert's and starting school to become a dental assistant, Brick developing his new "whoop!" tic, Darren and Sue dating, and Axl's graduation from high school. Best quote of the season? From Mike, who says "You know, it just occurred to me --- I own a LOT of plaid." Few shows can boast the level of writing and talent on display behind and in front of the camera. Even many of the guest stars are already celebrities in their own right. What other show has recurring roles for the likes of Jerry Van Dyke, Marsha Mason, Brooke Shields, Norm Macdonald, Chris Kattan, Jack McBrayer, Dave Foley, etc. ? Casting on this show is top notch. No weak links to be found here, and I seriously can't think of another show with the top-tier level of so many supporting cast members -- from Sean and Darren to the guys at the Quarry to Carly and Brad to the salesmen at Ehlert's Donahues to Reverend Tim Tom -- every character is honest, sincere, funny, and could have easily had their own spin-off (although thankfully, they were confined to The Middle -- sometimes, less is more). What else to say but this series is perfect -- EXTREMELY funny, touching, and highly rewatchable. Review: So Funny! (Repeat in Whisper..."So Funny!") - Oh so exciting to find out that Season Four of The Middle will soon be available! This is one of the best shows on TV, and a perfect compliment to Modern Family on Wednesday nights. Because, if you think about it, the Hecks are a modern family as well...struggling to pay bills, to "do for family," to fight and make up again. Frankie, Mike, Brick, Axl, and Sue (put in this order, because, as loyal viewers know, the youngest member does not like being referred to as "and Brick') may be fictional but they are also very real, and for that we should be grateful! The "Summer of Sue and Dad" episode alone makes the purchase price worthwhile. Poor eternally optimistic Sue wants nothing more than to spend quality time with her father, only to hear him say that Axl is in fact his favorite child. But as stoic and unemotional as Mike can be, we know that of course he loves Sue equally, and the montage and song at the end prove this in a way that will melt your heart. Season Four also introduces Axl's tutor Cassidy, and without giving away anything to those who may not have seen the show to this point, trust me, she is a delightful addition to an already outstanding cast! Speaking of Axl, although far from an outstanding student, he does shine in the episode in which Frankie goes back to school. We may sometimes have to wait for him to do the right thing, but he always comes through. After all, he is part of a family...and a great family it is! Whomever your favorite may be, you will enjoy every Season Four moment! Relax, sit back, laugh, cry, enjoy, but watch it today! ("Today...")

We love this show!!
My boys and I love this show. We watch it every night!! They are going to be so excited when Season 4 shows up in our mailbox. Seriously, we end each day watching 2 episodes. The Telling and Diaper Incident are my favorite episodes. The Cheerleader is one sons, and all the Halloween episodes are the other sons favorite!! I don't think a day goes by that we don't recite a line from this show. Such a great great great show! Axl is my favorite!! And all of this positive feedback from a person that can't stand Patricia Heaton. I think it's because we think her character on the show is a jerk mom for the most part....so I think that is why I can stomach watching her. I'm so glad season 4 came out faster than season 3 did. Can't wait for 5!!

Fun and fresh as ever! Frankie rules!!!
We are huge fans of "the middle". My wife says that Frankie Heck rocks her world and she wishes they could be real life friends. I gave this season to her for Christmas and we watch one episode per evening (when we get the chance). This is a sitcom that amazingly has remained fresh for at least four seasons. The writing, the chemistry between characters, and storylines are all top-notch. We hope this series can go on and on and on. It's especially good that the children age as the story progresses...and whoever the writers are, they KNOW teenagers. The CD set is great, but if you get this set, be advised that there are more than 4 episodes per disc. To see the rest you will need to go down to the arrow at the bottom of the screen next to the main menu button, click the arrow and another screen of episode titles will appear. 5 solid stars!

I'm an unashamed fan of U.S comedies, going back as far as M*A*S*H, Cheers, The Golden Girls & Frasier, right through to modern day hits such as The Big Bang Theory and Modern Family, with many others in-between; and for my money The Middle is one of the most under-rated and most enjoyable of all of them. As good as Patricia Heaton and Neil Flynn are in playing the over-stretched working class parents trying to make it to the next pay check without going under (and without having to finally pay to fix the washing machine), it's the kids who make this show work so well for me. Charlie McDermott and Atticus Shaffer are wonderful as Axl and Brick, while Eden Sher plays Sue with such boundless energy and wide-eyed enthusiasm that I can't understand why at least one best-supporting actress Emmy nomination hasn't come her way (The show is completely over-looked every year when awards season comes around). Season Four is packed full of classic episodes, such as "The Hose", "The Smile", "Valentine's Day IV" and "The Graduation" and features great guest appearances by the likes of Brooke Shields ( unrecognisable as Rita Glossner), Brock Ciarlelli (as Brad) and John Gammon (as Darrin). The Middle is a family show and one I whole-heartedly recommend. ** Be sure your DVD Player is Region 1 compatible, as this is a U.S release.

We love watching the middle as a family (parents and 3 young children). it's very funny and tackles many aspects of life both parents and children have to face. Great acting and great humour :)
