In 2023, we rebuilt my grandparents’ home and moved in just before Thanksgiving. For the lighting, I grabbed 25 Lumary 6" Retrofit Can Lights because, hey, they were cheaper than Govee. Big mistake. Within the first month, three lights went haywire—one started blinking dimly in random colors, and others just straight-up lost connection. Over the next few months, I replaced somewhere between five and eight of them. Lumary even offered me a full refund as a goodwill gesture, but (surprise) they never followed through. Long story short: you get what you pay for. Sick of the constant issues, I replaced one room with Govee lights, and wow—I wish I’d just spent the extra $20 per set upfront. These lights are flawless. No connection problems, no random glitches—just reliable, bright, beautiful lighting. The range of colors is incredible, and they connect instantly to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Plus, the Govee app is super intuitive and plays perfectly with my Alexa system. Since making the switch, I’ve gone all-in with Govee. I’ve added bulbs for lamps in the living room, my son’s bedroom, and even strip lights in random spots. Their TV lights? Absolute game-changer. Syncing them with the TV creates an immersive experience that’s hard to beat. And the Govee app? It’s regularly updated, easy to use, and often has sales or coupons, which is a nice bonus. If you’re trying to decide, take it from me—just spend the extra money and go with Govee. I’ve seen people mention issues, but Govee’s customer support is top-notch. They respond quickly and actually replace faulty products. If you’ve had problems with Govee before, I’d encourage you to give them another shot—they’ve totally transformed my home lighting setup.

I love Govee products and this retrofit is fantastic. This was insanely easy to install and setup, it took about 30 minutes to do 6 lights, and most of that time was unhooking the old springs and carefully pealing away the old crap I had to not damage the paint. The actual install was done in 5 :) These might be a little pricey, but sometimes things pay for themselves when you're not trying to rewire something that's in an uncomfortable position.

Great product which is easy to install and control from the Govee App. One of the piece was broken/not working. The support from the company promptly replaced the defective item once I shared the details of the issue. Works well, provides multiple color options, scenes, etc. very easy to put them on schedule also using the app. I will buy more in future as I am ready to replace my existing can lights.

I have used Govee light strips for my TVs in the past and they worked great so when it came time to update my living room lights which used retro fittings I thought why not get color changing ones to help set the mood for movies. Upon seeing these I jumped on the purchase since they were at a good price compared to more expensive ones from other brands. Install was very easy literally unscrewed the old led retro lights which used metal clips to hold them in place so seeing that these govee ones used a metal fin I was a bit skeptical that they would hold in place but since the install I’ve had them in a few weeks now and neither of them look like they are falling out at all, I even tug on them every now and again but they are very secured in place so just follow the instructions and you will be fine. Adding the lights on the app was very easy thanks to how Govee designed the app, adjusting the colors are also easy and you can even group them together to make simultaneous adjustments at the same time. The only thing I will add that is a bit annoying is that the lights tend to lose wifi connection so it takes a few seconds for them to come up on the app again which delays being able to adjust the lights but a minor inconvenience. Over all I’m happy with these lights and I may look into purchasing another set for another room.

If you have the right cans and for outside install the vinyl cover on your ceiling is flush and everything is properly fit then yeah these pop right in. But if you have a can that doesn't sit flush or is loose then it becomes a little bit of work because of the 3 metal prongs that hold this in place. For inside install again the can has to be right and it's less of a headache because drywall is solid compared to vinyl coverings which flex a lot. Install is more direct and easier but removing them can be difficult but doable. Why have the 3 metal prongs. It's a way of accommodating slightly different size cans i guess. Taking the light out is a bit challenging. They should have a version with the spring clips. Why don't they. I don't see any other lights with this prong design on them on a 5/6 inch. As for the light itself it works great the brightness is good at 1000 lumens. I purchased the 4 pack I would buy more if wasn't for the 3 prong design. I'll throw a pic of what kind of spring holder IT NEEDS. 😉 Make an updated version with springs instead of the prongs and I'd buy a lot more. Overall it's simple plug n play. Screw in the socket adapter plug it to the light jam it into the ceiling and it's disco fever time. 👍

Installed for about 48 hours - since installing at least once an hour they randomly turn off and on, sometimes they flickering for several minutes before coming back on. Had high hopes due to having other hover products but flicking issue is too constant. App setup was super easy and color spectrum was nice but unreliable so they’re getting returned.

I mounted these in the ceiling of our living room and was able to connect this to our gives rear tv ambient lights. We have completely immersive experience now when watching tv, movies, and playing Xbox games.

These work great. I really only needed 1 to replace the can light on my front porch. I thought about replacing all my cans inside as well but I’ve already got various Govee lamps and other fixtures for the cool ambient color light so I will probably just keep those. Light looks good. Install took less than 3 minutes. Pull old light out, replace harness, shove new Govee light into the can, done. Almost just as easy as replacing a light bulb.

These lights are a really good value compared to Philips Hue. They fit into existing recessed light housing and plugged in with the E26. The clips that hold the lights in aren’t that great to deal with and it was really hard to flush the lights into the recessed housing. The lights are bright especially the whites (cool and warm). However, the colours are a bit dim and not as rich. Overall for the price, they are a good value.
