Having recently tried Montezuma’s Absolute Black 100% Cocoa bar, I feel confident in recommending it but with a caveat, this is not your typical sweet chocolate bar. Right from the first square, you notice the boldness. The aroma is notably rich, almost nutty and earthy, with no overt sweetness. As it melts, the flavour unfurls slowly raw cocoa bitterness leads the way, followed by a roasted, slightly fruity under-note, and a lingering finish that keeps you mindful you’re eating something serious. What I really appreciate is the purity: the ingredients list is simple—“dark chocolate (cocoa mass 100%)”. That said, this bar won’t be for everyone. The bitterness is intense several reviewers say it’s almost too much straight off, unless you’re very accustomed to high-percentage cocoa bars it's best when you savour a small piece slowly, let it sit on your tongue a moment, and maybe pair it with a slightly sweet or creamy food to contrast it. I also like that the brand gives context around “100% cocoa” and how they manage to retain smoothness despite the absence of sugar or fillers. Montezuma’s Absolute Black is a top-tier choice if you’re into ultra-dark, minimalist chocolate with no sugar and real cocoa intensity. But go slowly if your usual bar is 70-80% cocoa, this is a step up in both flavour strength and bitterness. Be prepared for the experience. Honestly the best dark chocolate I have tasted. My always 'go to' when it comes to sweets and I'm glad it has such good ingredients and very low sugar. Only real dark chocolate fans will appreciate

This is 100% Pure Chocolate and definitely an acquired taste. It is quite a bitter taste, so if you’re wanting to wean yourself onto better quality, purer Chocolate such as this with high Cocoa Solids, then try starting with the lower percentages first such as 60%, 70%. You might not appreciate the taste if you were used to consuming Milk Chocolate. You don’t need very much as it is very rich and filling. I eat a small piece every day to fit in with my Diabetic Diet and to ward off a Family History of Dementia…!!

This ia a nice chocolate bar which has coco nibs in it. The coco nubs come from the coco/coco plant. The nibs can be roasted when they roast the whole coco to sweeten the coco. Or not much roasted which leaves the nutrients fully in it but has a more bitter taste. A good size of bar. I got it as a gift for a relative. The coco is ethically sourced from 1 of the coco producing regions. It is made by montezuma an English company in the UK. They make really nice chocolate bars. Great as a treat or for a gift.

I bought this on the premise that it is one of the healthiest dark chocolate brands you can buy, but this particular brand is borderline inedible - and I say that as an avid dark chocolate enjoyer. It tastes putrid, and now I question how much benefit there can be in consuming something so unpleasant.

This is horrible a sticky texture. It is better for you but it isn't for me

This is the worst food item I ever tasted but I will try to eat it as I am quitting coffee and I need something to wake me up while working, mix it with water will taste like espresso

Really strong chocolate.. You have to like cocoa

This is great chocolate. We try to take a piece a day as the cocoa is good for joints or overall health. Of course, this is PURE which means there is no sugar. So... It is bitter... But worth it. The only thing to note is that it was a little melted when it arrived. Not bad just a little mushy.
