One of the Best Berenstain Bear Books to Date!!!
The Berenstain Bears Think of Those in Need is a wonderful lesson of empathy for little ones. The younger the child, the less likely they are to understand what empathy is, feels like, or looks like. My four-year-old son loved this book. All throughout the book he made comments like "Oh, how sweet" and "Ah, that's so nice of the bear family momma." He understands a piece of empathy and I doubt I have ever even used the word in conversations with him. Honestly though, how does a parent teach a first lesson on the subject of empathy? It's one of those life lessons that truly doesn't make much sense to very young children. This book is a wonderful way to teach your child a lesson about human kindness without them every even knowing you taught them the lesson. Every six months or so, my son and I go through his toys and donate all the extras to an orphanage I know of, a local daycare, or a less fortunate child I should happen to know of. My son will be five next month. We have "recycled" his toys since he was a baby. Of course when he was a toddler, he hated giving his toys away and had no idea what I was referring to when I told him of "little kids who didn't have toys" and "helping others just the way God would want us to do." Empathy and having concern for those less fortunate is something I would have said could never be taught from a book. I would have said that until I read this wonderful Berenstain Bear tale. If you are in search of a way to teach your little one about caring for other human beings just because they are indeed human beings just like them, then I highly recommend you order a copy of this book today! Amazon is the reliable, economical, and easy way to get almost any book delivered to your front door. We found this on Amazon as we were increasing out Berenstain Bear collection. Almost all of the Berenstain Books are designed to not only entertain, but to teach life lessons in a fun, playful manner. It should be told to any and all of the bear lovers, that this little story is one you must have right away.

Love the message!
This is a great book. My 2 & 3 year-olds keep asking me to read it. I like that it is about tidying by donating as well as doing more for the community. Ex: The bears stop at a retirement home to donate, but they stay for a while to spend time with the older bears. Great message. I read this one with the Messy Room book (which I read as a child). It is like Marie Kondo-ing for children.

Inspired my class - highly recommend.
I'm not a huge fan of these bears but my class are and voted for this story over others. It inspired them to see what they can do for people at our local homeless shelter and to understand why it is important to clear out your stuff and "get rid of it". I could see on some children's faces the realization of what the bell ringing and the Salvation Army collecting money outside stores is all about too.Our favorite part: they did not just donate the board games to the senior home but stayed and played them too. Awesome idea for a future outreach, we think.

Family Favorite!
Love ALL Berenstain Bears books and videos. You can't go wrong. My 5 and 3 year old LOVE their stories. Their books are wonderful ways to introduce life lessons and open up discussions about the lesson after you've read the books. My children always ask good questions and really seem to comprehend what we have just learned about. We have almost every book they make. I had them when I was a child as well. Never have to worry about anything inappropriate in the story.

Good book to teach about giving back
It's very helpful in explaining my 4 y/o son why it is important to be thankful and why we need to give back. My son loves the Berenstain Bears stories so I take advantage to teach some things through them. inlove it!

Wonderful lesson to teach kids
Got this book for my kids at Christmas to explain the important of helping others in need. There was a family that lost everything in a house fire so my son went through his toys and donated them to the family a week after reading this together.
