Solid Product, functions well so far, time will tell
Product comes put together. You just need to mount the base it sits on. My house is vinyl siding so I chose to mount it there. I had some scrap siding I held on the edge of a PT 2x6 and used my bandsaw to cut out the siding profile in the back of the 2x6 so it wouldn't crush the siding when I put it on. I added a couple of 3" galvanized lag screws to hold the PT to the house and then screwed the included lag screws to secure the base to the PT base. Please note the base arm that attaches to reel is made of plastic. It seems like it's strong but I would be worried if it was going to be in a place that gets a lot of sun that it could wear down the plastic faster. Might be a reason the hose reel has only a 2 year warranty. I plan to take mine down in the winter and store it inside just to protect it's life span. Also, it does come with rubber washers inside but mine did still leak even after using pliers to tighten it to the spigot. I took it off and then wrapped the spigot with the included teflon tape and that has helped. The house retracts and extends well. The output is a little weaker than I was expecting. Not a dealbreaker or anything but it was replacing the same size hose so not sure why it would be weaker. Maybe it's because I'm using the included nozzle and not comparing it against the old nozzle on the old hose. Lastly, it has a ball stop to keep the hose from retracting all the way in. I'd estimate mine extended a good 4 feet from the hose stop to the nozzle which is more than I'd like. It was easier enough to loosen the 2 phillips screws and slide the ball down closer to the nozzle and it seemed to retract fine. So time will tell how it holds up to the weather but so far so good. Definitely a large improvement on the old school reel non retractable reel it replaced. I'd recommend.

The best hose reel to be found on the market!
Bought this hose reel in July 2024 to replace a cumbersome manual crank-in hose reel. I was AMAZED at the ease of use and the reach of the hose. One of our flower beds is on the opposite side of our house from the spigot and it not only reached that bed, but had more hose on the reel beyond it. It has a strong retracter to reel in the hose, so you have to hold on to the hose as it reels in to avoid damaging it or risk injury to anybody near by. It maintains excellent water pressure (we tested it by shooting a stream of water over our 2 story house). Installation was easy and we had it up and running in no time. One thing I love about it is that in the late fall, you can dismount it and store it inside so that what water is still in the hose won't freeze over the winter. And that the plastic housing won't be damaged by subfreezing temps that Ohio winters are famous for. The functionality of this product is amazing and makes me wish I had found and bought it sooner. Now yard work and flower bed management isn't the dreaded chore is used to be.

Nice Reel
I bought two of these for my front and back yards: 100’ x 5/8" and 115' x 1/2". It would have been nice if they sold just the wall bracket so one device could be moved between locations, but all they sell—on Amazon anyway—are extra screws (which you can get at any hardware store). That said, as I note below, moving these could be problematic. Overall, they’re nice units that work as advertised . . . for now. I have had retractable hose reels before, and they all worked well . . . until they didn’t, first no longer retracting all of the hose, and ultimately none of the hose. So time will tell, hence my 4 stars rather than 5. I am skeptical. Some specifics: REEL: Locks and retracts well and not too fast. It has a handy carry handle, but... The one in my backyard weighs 31 lbs.+ DRY. I can’t imagine trying to haul if off of its mount and carry it around when it’s full of residual water! TIP: Don’t try to retract the hose when it’s pressurized with water. After shutting off the source, open the nozzle to release the internal pressure, then retract the hose. It works much better that way. WARRANTY: There’s a prominent label on the top that reads “2 Years,” but that only applies to the case standing up to UV radiation. The actual warranty is only 1 year. MOUNT: Sturdy plastic, with a metal tube to serve as an axle. They supply large, conventional, conical plastic wall anchors with screws. I was going into a stucco on frame wall for one unit, and into a CMU block wall for the other. In either case, I did not use those kinds of anchors. They are weakest in one direction: outward, away from the hole, which is exactly the direction you are always exerting force on the reel as you pull the hose out. I substituted expandable masonry anchors. At 30+ lbs dry, it was a little bit of a wrestle to position the reel onto the mount and slide the tube into place. I would not want to be doing that with the reel full of residual water. My back wouldn’t be able to take it, so my reels will not often be coming off their mounts. The axle tubes have holes at the bottom, presumably for a padlock. None of my locks would fit it, however. It would require one of those lightweight brass padlocks with at least a 2" shackle. HOSE: Very flexible. I haven’t experienced any kinking, but that doesn’t mean they won’t kink. Both units were installed at the height of their adjoining hose bibbs—low—which resulted in the nozzles lying on the ground. I therefore shortened the slack ends by moving the ball-stops closer to the hoses’ ends. (They’re just clamped around the hoses with two screws.) NOZZLE: It’s a reasonably nice one, with 9 different spray patterns (although I have yet to figure out the use for many of them). Instead of a conventional trigger handle/plunger valve, these have a thumb-operated ball valve on top. That may extend their lives in our hard water environment. So we’ll see. So far so good.

This is my FOURTH one and love, love, love it!
Updating a review after three years of use and four total purchases. I still give this 5 stars, as the retraction mechanism is still strong, and my opinion of the product must be positive, as I just purchased my Fourth one. After almost four years of usage, my only complaint is with the hose nozzle included with each reel. My third Glahoden’s nozzle was defective from day one. I replaced it with a sturdier nozzle from the local home improvement warehouse, and no problems since. Glahoden #2 (the one we use the most) started leaking from the faucet fitting, but I made a quick fix using a brass hose repair kit… no problems since. I absolutely still recommend this product. We drain ours and bring into the garage over the winter, so that may contribute to the longevity. ——————————— I bought the first one last Christmas and installed it at our mountain cabin. It stretches all over the property to allow us to water the shrubbery, or to wash the cars or ATV. It retracts very easily. When we moved to a new house, we bought the second one of these to put in the backyard. Again, just so happy with the ability to reach all areas of our backyard with the hose, and then to have it retract automatically into a neat, compact unit. Considering buying another one for the front yard! You will not regret buying this! Pros: 1. Utility. Just love the ability to pull out as much hose as you need, and then to have it retract once done. 2. No more ugly wads of hose or rusty hose reels on the ground! The fact that this mounts to the wall creates a nice, compact, neat place for your hose. 3. Quality. The hose itself seems to be sturdy and of good quality. It doesn’t kink or leak. 4. Winterization. When the weather gets to freezing, you can unmount the entire unit by pulling one hinge pin, and then store the hose reel somewhere that is temperature protected. Very smart! No more split hoses due to freezing temps! Cons: 1. Size. It takes up a bit of space. Know this and plan for its placement accordingly. 2. Weight. Once water starts flowing through the hose, the reel can get heavy quickly. Because of this, it must be mounted securely. For one of our reels, used TapCon concrete anchors in lieu of the provided hardware to ensure it would stay securely on the brick wall of the house. For the other, the provided hardware was sufficient to secure to wood facia on the house. 3. Hinge pin is plastic. Fairly thick plastic, but plastic. Would have preferred bronze, but so far, no problems. ***** UPDATED ***** When I pulled the hinge pin this winter to store the reel in my garage, I realized that the hinge pin is actually plastic covered aluminum. Better than just plastic, but would still have preferred bronze. If you’re wondering if you should get this, quit wondering. GET THIS!

Pull and Rewind!
We have this hose reel for almost a year now and it has performed very well. It was pretty easy to mount and assemble. The hose cannot be changed out but appears to be of high quality. We have not had any leaks or tears. We did flush the hose before winter so it did not retain water. We also removed the reel and stored it on the garage over the winter. We bring all our hoses in during the cold months and this has extended their useful life. The reel is easy to pull out and retracts automatically for rewinding. This has really helped out a lot. I recommend this hose and reel.

Review of hose reel
Works ok and as described. Needs a little work to become 5 stars. Starting with hose connection, swivel can leak water where it connects hose to threads. Sprayer is cheap made, but does ok most of the time. Had to get a new one before a year. Biggest issue is it's not UV protected as described! Fades in sun and is weather damaged after 2 years

Seems to be a good product.
I have had problems with hose reels in the past. Only lasting one year. I have had this one about 9 months and so far it has held up. But the jury is still out.

Mounting bracket is weak
I've owned it for a little over a year now and the plastic wall mounting bracket just broke yesterday. The red tape marking the end of the hose also fell off, they could have used something better than cheap tape. Apparently the bracket is a known problem because their website offered a metal one to replace this plastic one. Other than that it's been a good product. I bought the 5/8 100ft one. Water flow was good and it retracts good, although it seems to have gotten weaker lately. Getting it to retract the last 6 feet of hose is sometimes a struggle now. It takes a lot of effort to pull the last 30 feet of hose out too. Edit: Changing from 3 stars to 4 stars. The seller sent a new metal mounting bracket free of charge. It's back up again. Unfortunately it no longer retracts completely, it leaves about the last 10 feet of hose. Still works good enough for me... at least for now.

Glahoden retractable 100ft garden hose
I bought this item from Amazon uk after a recommendation from my son, it arrived promptly in time but the inclosed instructions was in German although it is a straight forward installation but I still have few small items supplied and I don’t know what I suppose to do with them. Many product I have bought in the past which is supplied with multi lingual instructions leaflet, after contacting Amazon their expiation because the item was dispatched from Germany
