Sitting on the edge of my seat
Although other P. J. Tracy books have their moments when the plot lulls, the suspense slackens, and the reader breathes a sigh of boredom and toddles off for another cup of tea, this book doesn't let up for a second. I was gripped to every second of the thrilling and suspenseful plot, unable to work out who was the criminal, desperately afraid for our heroines and completely terrified they might be caught and killed by the vast group of villains surrounding them. The horror of the attack planned by the criminals, and the sublime innocence of their delivery method, shocks and terrifies, and the empty town encountered by our heroines is utterly chilling. While I was a little disappointed by the lack of explanation for these nefarious plots, P. J. Tracy manages to create a book in which the women are believable, vulnerable, powerful creatures, a rare event in detective fiction. The men manage to be believably sexist without being misogynistic and as ever the dialogue sparkles. If there is any clue (in any Monkeewrench novels) the P.J. Tracy is a crimewriting team it's the dialogue - the banter has a naturalness which can only come when two authors are testing it out between themselves. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a rip roaring good read without being too tested mentally!

A very entertaining read
I thought that the first of the Monkeewrench series was good; the second not so good, but this one, the third in the series was by far the best so far. The story is pretty implausible, but if you can get over that, it great fun and a rollicking good roller-coaster of a read

Not that interesting.......
Tòo many chapters crawling through ditches & in and out of basements, and I felt left dangling as to who the perpetrators were. Not up to the standard of the 1st two brilliant books in this series, unfortunately.

Excellent read
Great characters you really invest in emotionally.

a frightening story
Just that - what a frightening story - and judging by the reactions of some people today, (over self isolating) then not unbelievable. Yes, some of the techno babble is a bit much, but overall an exciting read

Good series, 'till now.
Was puzzled when this book fell flat. The first two, particularly No1, were good. Later learned that one of the co-authors had passed away in the space between 2 & 3 which explained why No3 flopped. The deceased was obviously the partner who could write. Pity !! Kieran

Worth reading
I did enjoy this book but at certain points of the book I got a bit bored and it was a bit of a flimsy plot. Good old grace getting herself into something and good old magozzi coming to her rescue. Don't get me wrong it is worth a read but after "want to play" I was expecting something better as a follow up. Graces car just happens to break down right next to a town that has just been hit with nerve gas? A little to far fetched for me. The couple of chapters at the end of the book for snow blind however are a big plus for me and now have got me ready to move on from dead run and hopefully onto a more exciting story.

Brilliant
Great story as ever from the authors. A fast paced thriller with a plethora of characters, brilliantly written, you'll want to read it quick, like the action.
