The Catholic Faith Handbook for Youth

This IS IT!!! Now that I am a grandmother, I am constantly looking for books to share with my grandchildren about our faith. I have purchased literally dozens of books about our faith hoping to find ONE handbook that sums up the basics of our faith, the main prayers and teachings of the Church, the mass explained, questions addressing our faith and social issues like suicide and abortion and so forth. This book does it all! The pages are thick and glossy and of the highest quality. It is easy to navigate and is chocked full of interesting "sidebar" mini articles about famous saints, the sacraments, summaries of the basic teachings in the catechism such as the Fruits of the Holy Spirit and so forth. It is indexed and has an extensive bibliography. I would say the reading level and subject matter is appropriate for anyone age 13 to 103 and the style is exactly the kinds that would especially appeal to teens as one can flip through and find tons of interesting short articles to read. I ordered one for my 13 year old grandson but immediately loved it so much I am ordering one for myself and I am 69!

This book is responsible for my conversion into the Catholic faith. Makes our faith easy to understand, even for those born into it. Highly recommend.

Good price Gift

I love the easy-to-read content that explains the Catechism of the Catholic Church, also including reflections on saints, scripture and prayer. While written for teens, I also recommend this to young adults, RCIA participants, and anyone wanting to know more about the faith. I recommend this to every parish and Catholic high school in the Diocese of Youngstown, where I work. (My most recent purchase of the book was as a Confirmation gift for my goddaughter.) Thank you, St. Mary's Press, for this fantastic resource!

Needed for school

Learned a lot.

I used the Second Edition with my High School Catechism Class... I loved it and all the materials that went with it... Amazing book, mirrors "This Is Our Faith" by Pennock to a degree. The 2013 third edition has added interactive materials and new sections and chapters as well as review questions. Very concise and accurate, carries Nihil Obstat and Imprimatur as well as "The Subcomittee on the Catechism, United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, has found this catechetical text, copyright 2013, to be in conformity with the Catechism of the Catholic Church."

We chose this book because it was on the "approved" list, but came to really appreciate it because the students liked it so much. I think they will keep their copies for reference as they continue on their journies.
