lost stories, the adventure fills in the blanks.
Recommend this series and this book for those who like action and adventure and humor. Also recommend for the reluctant reader. These hard to put down books have been read by all 3 of my boys and myself. The author uses this book to explore some of the stories touched upon in previous books, but not detailed. The stories that reveal the characters' pasts and their smaller adventures. The premise behind the stories is of a present day archaeologist and his assistants are excavating the remains of a castle, when one of them finds the ruins of a Ranger's cabin and a manuscript filled with long-lost tales. My boys were between 10 and 12 when they started reading this series. My now 13 year old is enjoying these added adventures and I have a feeling when my other 2 come home from college, they will read this as well.

OCD
I love the Ranger's Apprentice Series, but this one isn't my favorite. I found some stories amazing and well thought out, and others a bit strange. The part I didn't like at all about this book was the spine. Most Ranger's Apprentice books have a number on the spine, but because this wasn't part of the chronological storyline, they put an oakleaf instead. I thought this was a neat idea, but now they are releasing a twelfth book. My OCD self immediately took note that the books would go from ten to oakleaf to twelve. I'm probably the only person bothered by it. I still highly recommend this book

Excellent Book!
I have read this series before and have been going through it again. I was out of town caring for my mom and ordered my own copy of this book. It arrived quickly and I am grateful to own it! Read the whole series! It is a wonderful series to read and re-read!

Truly Enjoyable
I thought the manner by which the author chose to present the tales was very surprising and well planned. Thoroughly enjoyed the stories as well. Filed in some gaps. Unfortunately, it appears that the author may be tying up "loose ends" in anticipation of concluding this series, which will be a loss. I have had some many authors move on or simply decide to stop writing about that particular character or land, such as Katherine Kurtz' Deryni tales, or Alan Dean Foster's Pip and Flinx stories.
