Very well made but size up.
These shorts are so nice and well made. Not a flaw in them. In my opinion worth every penny. I got them for my husband for Christmas and he wears a small. They were just a tinge to tight. I very well could have sent them back, but decided to keep them until I found the just right person to wear them. I’m hoping I find a HS kid that wouldn’t be able to afford these that would appreciate and take good care of them. For a small adult that’s full grown, they are sewn so well they’d be wearable for years.

Awesome crossfit shorts!
These shorts are awesome! Soft, good fit, just stretchy enough wish I would have bought several pairs when they were on sale!

Waist band is firm and thick
I have a few other Born Primitive workout shorts and unfortunately these are my least favorite. The design is great and the fit is as expected but the pocket locations (zippers on the sides of the leg) and the thickness of the waistband (about 2.5 inches) make it so I am not sure how often I will wear them. They almost seem more like board shorts than workout shorts, they have netted pockets and no liner.I plan on keeping these shorts but they are likely to end up as backups for when my more preferred shorts are dirty.

Born Primitive: Excellent Company Making Excellent Workout Shorts
The American Defender 3.0 shorts are sublime. First, they mimic the USMC "silkies" fabric for their PT shorts. The Defender 3.0 shorts are true to size--32 waist is a 32 waist. However, here's where a neat feature is: drawstring AND a a thick cinch-able velcro waist tab. The drawstring is a standard feature, but the velcro tab allows for the waist to increase or decrease in size without affecting the fit of the shorts. I think it may be able to get as thin as a 31 waist, but maybe up to a 34 waist too.The next feature is the pocketing. There are 2 zippered pockets on either hip (instead of in the typical front pocket locations). This allows for putting things into pockets, but not getting them hemmed up in your leg creases when you're squatting or lunging--great idea! The zippers fully close the pocket too, so they will secure your belongings.Lastly, the design of the weather beaten flag side-by-side with the black Born Primitive emblem is a really catchy look.I HIGHLY recommend for a great feeling, great fitting workout short!

Comfortable workout shorts
My 14 year old son loves these workout shorts. He is 6 ft tall, 180 lbs and I ordered his usual size. They fit him perfectly and are a nice length. They are comfortable for him to wear when working out and they dry quickly. They also wash and dry with ease. This is a nice quality pair of workout shorts.

Great Shorts!!!
Love these shorts. I have been wearing these for couple weeks now. For rowing, burpee challenges, lifting, crossfit etc. I am not a runner. I have many variety of shorts from working out. These are easily my favorites. No contest, the only complaint I have, which is minor is the pocket does not zip the SamUltra phone in it. The 2 pockets are located on the side of the legs, and good location. They are well made and the velcro closure are really nice. All mine are just elastic, other than these. They still have tie to adjust the closure even tighter. First experience with born primitive, but definitely not the last. The look, feel of these are worth the money. High quality and amazing.

Lightweight comfortable non-binding shorts!
These are well made lightweight shorts with just a bit of stretch giving a nice non-binding fit for activities requiring bending, etc. I thought the pockets were a bit strange being on the sides, but found them to work quite well not allowing phone or wallet to dig in when bending down. Velcro closure gives a bit of adjustability and is secure. The price is high but overall they are nice workout shorts. The pattern is quite nice and the donation to the Navy Seal foundation is a plus.
