This DAC AMP combo sounds awesome! Smooth and transparent. Plenty of power for 99% of headphones. The only issue I had was with crackling in windows even with the SMSL drivers installed. They need to figure that out. Random crackling sounds on 2 different windows PC's. Other than that, this unit performed excellent in all regards. Hope they update the drivers soon for everyone.

Coming from a Schiit Audio Gungnir DS version I sold it and bought the DO300ex based on the new AKM chipset 4499. The 300ex is a good dac with great detail, air, separation and bass slam but after a week my ears are hurting, and the overall sound doesn't seem natural to me. The unit lacks soul and emotion to me so I just returned it. I hope this helps your buying decisions. I'm still on the hunt for something new but in the interim my modi multibuilt OG works perfect for now.Happy Listening,

Musicalissino e non stancante. Molto dolce e mai aspro. Trasparente e con una fantastica immagine stereofonica. Non colora il suono. Sono molto sodisfatto. Collegato con iphone 12pro con adattatore camera kit in usb rende tutti i formati con un piacere d’ascolto migliore di streamer molto blasonati e dai costi di oltre i 1000€

Der Lieferant ist sehr transparent welche Chips eingebaut sind.An hochwertigen Komponenten habe ich dann Wolfson 8740, Sabre 9038Q2m und Sabre 9016K2M probegehört, Cambridge CXA 81, Nuvero 60 und Hegel H190, Canton Reference 7.Die Räumlichkeit, die Transparenz und die ORtbarkeit der Instrumente und auch die Tonalität ist wirklich herauszuhören. Mein neuer Preamp oder Headset für 2023/2024

SMSL DO300EX works well with my system I use it as Dac with my RME as pre-amp and the powerful Xduoo MT-604 Tube, I am using both reference headphones and active speakers all of which sound great with my setup.The SMSL DO300EX was very easy to set up just install usb driver win 10 and reboot all done.The bluetooth sounds great and easy to pair, tested with S23 ultra sound was pure quality.I now have an interest for SMSL and will take a closer look at what they have to offer.

Excellent DAC - I much prefer the sound of the AKM compared to the ESS DACs that SMSL makes - it sounds a bit less metallic and more transparent.
