Great concept, terrible execution
First off, as soon as I took it out of the box, my kittens absolutely LOVED this thing. They love sea grass posts and they love height. That's the good news. Now the not-so-good news:* The main post is wobbly even with a 4 lb kitten on it (I have weighted down the base and that helps, but the design concept or materials are seriously flawed)* No instructions with the package, which really shouldn't be an issue for something this simple but, as noted by several others, the main screw attaching the base to the first post doesn't fit in the hole UNLESS you push it through when the base is still partially folded over. That takes care of it.* I received an extra screw so, clearly, the manufacturer has a bit of a problem with quality control.* Another QC problem: No hold was drilled for the bobble on a spring. Zero way to attach it unless I drill a hold which requires the correct size drill bit.All that said, my kittens think it's pretty cool so, as long as I can weight it down, I'm going to try keeping it but it's a pity because it has some great features and could be a super popular item if it came with a heavier base and better quality control a few things were improved like a heavier base and better QC.2 days later: Not keeping it. Even the kittens didn't like the wobbling so they essentially stopped using it after the 1st day. The weights I added to the base helped, but is that really what I want to look at in a $30 toy? I also thought of getting a thicker wooden base and screw this down onto it for added stability but, really, how much trouble and expense do I want to go through for a toy of which there are other, better constructed, types? It's really too bad because the idea is great but the execution is really bad.

The Cat Went Crazy
The media could not be loaded. I ordered this for the ladies cat that I rent a room from for work, always scratching at things as I come and go for work. The cat watched me take it out of the box and put it together. The spring-ball on the base platform got kitty riled up, and the top tassel got her climbing the tower. It got really comical as she was able to climb the pole and stay attached to the top while she fought with the fluff ball. I was worried while shopping because I wanted to find a product that the claws of the cat would not get caught in as she scratched. The grass, or material, should ideally be wrapped vertically, in line with the direction that the cat will scratch, but the only products designed like that are cardboard and make a mess. Fortunately, this worked great as kitty was still able to work through this material, despite it being wrapped horizontally. I figured it would be worth taking a chance. since this product was one of the less expensive cat poles, and it is amongst the tallest. I wanted to ensure that the cat could get full extension, as I noticed that she likes to stretch her back, when going at the staircase wood beams or furniture.

Nice post and nice-looking
Very nice and glad I got it. It's quite attractive for a scratching post. The cord on the toy is a bit short, so it doesn't attract the cats very well, but I put it next to a piece of furniture so they can reach it better. I also understand not wanting the cord to be too long so they get tangled. I think the issue is that this is for really big cats and mine are average size. I have a 26" post and wanted taller, but this 36" is too much taller. Best would be middle ground, like 30 or 32, but live and learn. There are also replacement toys that I hope Amazon starts carrying. I found them at another retailer, but hope they are available here soon. Also, the other place does not offer a color choice, so I hope that becomes possible also.

Great! But will tip over for larger cats that try to climb to the top!
I love that this product is taller and is just a pole, rather than a series of platforms. My kitty can run up the side, with no obstacles! He is 15 pounds though, and it definitely tips. The answer to the question, “What is the weight of the cats/kitties using this?” that states, “It really doesn't matter. It is nearly impossible for the cats to knock over because it has a large base.” is incorrect.Cat does love to scratch it though, ans enjoys the springy ball. :) 4 stars for this product, minus one because of the tipping thing. Someone suggested wedging it under a couch, and that is a good idea!

Nice height
My cats love to jump up to the top of a scratching post and hang there. The best one that I owned is one that sits up against a wall, but I can't find them anymore. This is taller than the one that they had been using, but lighter weight, and more narrow. I still don't trust that it can support a 13 pound cat that runs up to attack it. I have seen it rock, so I have placed ankle weights at the bottom. They ignore the hanging ball and the one on the spring.

Love the post, packaging needs improvement
The post (5 stars itself) is great my 13-1/2 lb cat can jump and climb on it. He loves the sea grass posts, we have had the shorter ones (half size of this). This cat doesn't care much for the cardboard scratchers. Unfortunately, (packaging 1 star) this was not shrinked wrapped and shipped in its box (not inside another box) and the delivery person put it right under melting snow from our roof (there was 2 ft to the door) fortunately it was found before it had been wet too long and was able to dry it out letting it spend a day in the sun. Of course if the delivery person wasn't a jerk or had rang the bell .....

Already unraveling after 7 week’s of use...
Received this nice, tall scratching post around 2/10/18 - and our cat loved it. We loved it! Does not tip, which is normally an issue.Today is 4/2/18, and we woke up to the bottom rope unwinding from the post. This company definitely needs to see that more care is taken during assembly - including better overall quality control - to insure this doesn’t happen less than two months out.I’m hoping we can repair and strengthen where the rope attaches. But we shouldn’t need to.Not happy...😡

Great purchase.
I just received this yesterday and as soon as I put it together the cats were instantly on it. The base is wide enough that they don’t knock it over when they are playing on it. Great purchase.
