First, the positive. It does indeed record video at 4k 1040p. Doing so drains the battery faster (though if you're close to an outlet, you can record while charging) and of course fills up the included memory card faster (still get a decent length of shooting time however). I still have to experiment with the built-in image adjustment settings to get the output to look just right (the "auto" settings tend to turn out a bit washed out looking), but the menus are easy to navigate and this shouldn't take long. The preview LCD is handy in that is swivels so you can see what the camera is capturing, though it isn't a touch screen. The manual is very basic--if you're looking for detailed guidance or assistance, you're not going to find it here. The zoom works but it's not exactly smooth--if you're zooming while recording, it will look a bit jerky. The big downside is its built-in audio. It comes out sounding lo-fi, scratchy, virtually unusable if sharing with others. It does boast about external mic capability and it does have a jack for this. What it doesn't explain is that you need to obtain a *powered* external mic or it won't work with this camera. Lots of frustrating and pricey trial and error to find that out. But as it stands now, I will keep it and it will do for my relatively humble videography needs. If you're looking for something higher level, you'll need to find a different, more expensive camera.

Amazing

The media could not be loaded. 2 stars because it actually came with everything noted. Camera is NOT working though and appears used with a crack on it noticed straight out of box. Camera was also already in case inside of box. I think new device would have came with the camera and bag separately stored.

Granted a lot of phones can do video. What am I saying? All phones can do video now. However when my two kids wanted to do a movie type project for school and for fun, I took the opportunity to try this camera out. And it surprisingly works very well, it is a good old-fashioned video camcorder. And then for nothing else, the form factor will help in setting things like framing and holding a stabilizing shot. And has my kids seem to think, it makes for more filming aesthetic.

This camera is quite good. It record amazing video, and allows you to chance every setting you could require (exposure, brightness of screen, etc)The only flaws I noticed was 1. The speaker quality, when played back at a higher volume, it reverberates and distorts, but the audio in the video itself is great. The speaker is just not.And 2. When recording in 4k (which is not a necessity to me) the audio does not sync up to the video, however, any lower quality syncs up perfectly and still provides a crisp, clear video capture.Overall, for the price, this camera is above and beyond what I thought it was going to be, and I definitely recommend for a new videographer or someone who just wants to capture those special moments.

Only takes 32GB SD Card. Records in .AVI as a default, so be sure to either change format, or have conversion editing software available. Had to run the clips through iMovie before I could edit them on Adobe Editing Software.
