Fascinating Dolls from the Musee de la Poupee-Paris Hardcover – July 7, 2008

WONDERFUL book by Samy Odin. I had visited his museum in Paris (which will be moving to another location in Paris) and it was a joy to see some of the dolls, and many more, that make up his collection all in one place - and easy to visit again and again. Wonderful photos and even better text! I learned about how he (& his father) got started in antique doll collecting, and also what a wonderful tailor/designer his dad is (who has made some of the most beautiful costumes out of antique materials). This is a book that should me in every antique doll collector's library. It is a book you can pick up again and again, and one that I'm happy to show my non-doll collecting friends to let them see why I'm so enthusiastic about antique dolls and their histories. There are some antique dolls that are pictured that I will never be fortunate enough to own, but can enjoy anytime I want by picking up this book and leafing through the pages - Thank you, Samy!

Being a novice collector as I am, it has been a pleasure to collect and learn about dolls at the same time. There are a lot of books about dolls and with wonderful tips, information and photos of the doll of your wish. But after having been to the Musee de la Poupee a few years back, I realized how the Europeans have a way of "preserving " time and it's settings. And this books brings that precise setting and time in the photographs and the way the author talks about how he collects the dolls will most defenitely bring you back to memory land. The almost " natural" state of the dolls is so well protrayed in the photos this book has to offer.

The book is way beyond beautiful! If you can't afford these French dolls, there's nothing to stop you from relishing the glorious photos within these pages. The price was the best I have found for this book; it was packed well & arrived in a timely manner. Very, very pleased!
