I use this sharpener daily and I think it does a fine job. I would buy it again.

Easy to operate and produces a nice edge. If you use it regularly a few passes will do the job. If sharpening a dull knife it will be a more demanding task, repeating and checking, to get the best result.

This sharpener can get the job done - if you are only sharpening home use knives. In general, this sharpener’s motor and stones are unsuitable for constant high use - such as a restaurant setting. I have about 10 knives that I use enough to sharpen regularly. The chef knives (2) are high carbon steel and stainless alloy. The high carbon, being softer steel, sharpens quickly and cleanly. However the stainless alloy knives are much harder steel and take greater pressure to affect the blade passing through the stone channels. This in turn overworks the motor, which has a over-heating cut-out switch which stops the motor when over heated. It happens after about 10-15 minutes of hard sharpening.The final results are acceptable in the end, however. I still will steel the edges before use as this always hones the edge after heavy use.

Definitely works but not well. Takes time and cant get a perfect sharp edge with just this.

I read a lot of reviews of different knife sharpeners. Yes, a few people didn't like their experience with this one. But for the price and the largely positive reviews, it seemed like a good bet. Well, it IS! Within 20 minutes of receiving this electric knife sharpener I had sharpened the 5 knives we use most in the kitchen. My wife was a professional chef in Spain for 15 years, and I could tell she wasn't impressed with the sharpness of the knives in our kitchen. I had tried a number of manual (non-electric) sharpeners, but they just didn't produce the needed results on my dull kitchen knives. This little, budget-priced electric sharpener did a great job on our most-used knives! After sharpening a few of them, I asked my sweetie to grab a tomato from the fridge. It sliced easily while barely holding it with my fingers on the cutting board! You must follow the directions to use this sharpener (or any sharpener) correctly and expect it to do its job. This one earned its keep in 20 minutes! Recommended!

Fine sharpener for long blade knives like steak or carving knives, but not so much for picket knives.

This electric sharpener is perfeft for the home and does a good job on knife sharpening. I do my 8" chef knives and paring knives.
