![Hannibal - Season 2 [DVD] [2017]](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/91qwBM+pSWL.jpg)

All 13 episodes from the second season of the US TV drama that examines the early relationship between FBI profiler Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) and eminent psychiatrist Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen). After being sworn in by Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne), the head of the FBI Behavioral Science Unit, to help capture a serial killer who is on the rampage, Will finds himself increasingly struggling to control his thought processes that inform his uncanny ability to empathise with serial killers. When damning evidence shows up at the FBI that implicates Will in a string of grisly murders he is immediately placed under the care of the Baltimore State Hospital for the Criminally Insane. As Will tries to assure Jack of his innocence he also attempts to convince him of the identity of the real killer. The episodes are: 'Kaiseki', 'Sakizuki', 'Hassun', 'Takiawase', 'Mukozuke', 'Futamono', 'Yakimono', 'Su-zakana', 'Shiizakana', 'Naka-Choko', 'Ko No Mono', 'Tome-wan' and 'Mizumono'. Review: Dr Lecter always a master chef - I enjoyed the first season of Hannibal and hoped that the second season would exceed expectations too. So far it has (haven’t finished it yet) and, from my point of view, it remains one of the best psychological thrillers around. I won’t comment about the plot in order not to release spoilers, but be assured that if you have followed season 1, you will certainly appreciate part II. Well written, well performed, with its dark atmosphere that haunts you till the end of each episode… Hugh Dancy, Mads Mikkelsen and Laurence Fishburne at their very best. Might not be everyone’s cup of tea (or glass of red wine!), but it’s a good quality product that distinguish itself from all the standard stuff that’s out there. Review: crazy, gorgeous and original. - Hank le must be the very peak of the best of American TV. Original and breathtakingly beautiful to watch it deftly picks out characters and events throughout the various books and films with jaw dropping new story threads. This season continues the psychological game of cat and mouse from season one, but introduces some brilliant guest stars including Eddie Izzard and the wonderful Amanda Plummer, both playing two different kinds of crazy....

Fantastic
The second series Hannibal, it has to be said, is much more gory than the first. However it's just as good as the first series, if not better. The Blu-ray itself hasloads of extras unlike the first series. These include commentaries on many of the episodes as well as interviews and some of the main cast via a funny series called post-mortem, plus the usual gag reel and deleted scenes.all in all loads better than the first season and the Blu-ray for that. Highly recommended

The series (written before the DVD/Blu-ray Release)
Primarily, not for the squeamish, this season increases the viscera and darkness in large amounts - while the violence remains visual but fairly discrete, the darkness of the subject matter isn't for everyone. The first series introduced Jack, Will, Alana, Hannibal, Freddie, Abigail and more characters to the screen (most characters being available in toe works of Thomas Harris - albeit somewhat changed for TV), and played around with the universe in very dark ways. Season 2 works to move the characters in dangerous patterns, and tie the books to the TV show (although I try to avoid spoilers) in places. The performances are excellent, and although the lack of "action" in the mid section of season 2 may deter some, the story keeps coming, and the characters bounce off each other all the same. The series comes to a shocking conclusion even before the final episode, and allows great interpretation of the books. We're introduced to characters from other novels, (take a look at the cast listing) and see their effect on the situation. No one cast member goes overboard in portraying their character (some might agree it comes close though), and the dark, sickly carousel of violence continues to revolve around the main cast. The final episode, in which we see the conclusion of the events of both series, is played out exquisitely, with slow-motion and macro photography (such as close-up rain drops splashing in slow-mo), and superb direction and acting. Each and every character is played out well, and the entire series features twists, turns and dark, unexplored alleyways you wouldn't expect, while still remaining loyal to original subject matter. This has been the TV highlight of 2013/2014 for me, and I honestly give this the highest recommendation I can - this deserves to be part of your collection, if you enjoy the series (or even part thereof), you owe it to both the production company and yourself to own it.

Beware: No producer's cuts
Let me start off by saying: this series is EXCELLENT, and this review only pertains to the Blu-Ray, which I've purchased. If you haven't seen Hannibal yet, or even just Season 2, hurry up and watch it - this is the best show on TV, and this season is even better than the first! The UK version of Season 2, unlike Season 1, contains all the bonus features available on the US release. However, the release still doesn't contain the unedited, producer's cut episodes available in the US. Thus I've docked the release one star. However, seeing as the edits are not as substantial as the first season's, and because of an otherwise great package, I have no qualms giving this release my recommendation.

Absolutely delicious
Love everything about this show. Sets, plots, characters and awesome special effects all come together to create compelling viewing. My only regret is having raced through back- to- back my pre-ordered season 2 dvd, as soon as it arrived, I now have to wait for them to make season 3, which I shall pre-order as soon as Amazon provide that facility.

AN EXCELLENT PROGRAMME! I LOVED the first season and was ...
Seriously: AN EXCELLENT PROGRAMME! I LOVED the first season and was scared that I would feel short changed as the show evolved.... I was SO, SO WRONG! It is a show that deserves the revenue of DVD sales; regardless of whether you have watched the films/read the books, this show will keep you entertained and guessing! Well worth getting into!

Staffel. Ich bin begeistert von der 2. Staffel. Nur leider irgendwie nicht restlos. Erste Hälfte der 2. Staffel: Übertrifft die 1. Staffel sogar noch an Intensität und Spannung. Was Will Graham aus seinem Aufenthalt hinter Gitter macht ist atemberaubend. Was ist passiert? Für mich keine nachvollziehbare Entwicklung. Schade. Egal. Wenigstens ehrlich.

Absolutely stunning. As much as I adored Season 1 way back when it first came out, Season 2 far exceeded my expectations. Just as hauntingly, grotesquely beautiful as the first, and even more psychologically tumultuous -with James Hawkinson's same incredible cinematography, Bryan Fuller's poetic and deviously intelligent writing, and the astounding table set-ups of food stylist Janice Poon maintaining and enhancing the previous mood of the series. The acting is, as always, exceptional, leads and supporting cast alike handling the deeply psychological dialogue and subtext with finesse and realism. Dancy and Mikkelsen play off of one another with an even tauter electricity than before, accented and intensified by the realizations and decisions that shape this season's plot line, and the returning women in particular - Dhavernas, Park, Anderson, Torres, and Chorostecki - develop more as fully rounded, weighty, game-changing characters. Dhavernas becomes a true third player, but perhaps not in the way one would expect. Park brings to light the true intelligence and compassion of her character, with shocking results. Torres is a tour de force, and allows the weakening body of her character to stand in sharp contrast to her powerful, unyielding, intelligent mind - particularly seen in her determination to live on her own terms. Anderson reveals an insight and bravery in hers that should make the audience pump their fists in elation more than once, and Chorostecki quickly and violently cuts in as a pivotal pawn in the game itself. Fishburne smolders along with his own quiet energy, and gains a good bit more perspective as a character as well. Thompson and Abrams maintain the comedic element of the season, while also bringing touching and moving moments to the table (no pun intended). Esparza as well brings a humor and sympathy to his originally off-putting character. This season begins at a full tilt, opening with a scene at the top of the action, sucking you in before you even have a chance to get your bearings - and never letting you go. Without giving anything away, I can say that it ends in a sequence that is, frankly, bloody incredible, and one which touches on the full spectrum of human emotion while tying up the season nicely and setting it up for the third. To me, this season honestly felt like two - with two tight, lean major arcs - all fat cut out to create a sleek, polished final product. The first season was a bit more traditional in this manner (if you can call anything in this show traditional), with one big extended arc - though still a lean cut, with little to no filler or buffer aside from the necessary character development required of the start of a series in order to hook a slippery audience emotionally. Speaking of emotions - while still retaining the framework of the characters introduced in season one, the humanization of them was, overall, flipped - causing a rather frightening and unsettling disparity in the way one feels about each and every favorite and least favorite character. The average audience member may come out of this season with a new favorite, or with the bewildered expression of someone who cannot genuinely dislike a single one. Perhaps even with the genuine dislike of every single one - who knows? We as an audience are introduced to the darkest and lightest parts of the characters' natures, we see them at their most vulnerable and at their most calculating, and we ponder on their fates and on the outcome of all of these twisted lines of deceit for thirteen episodes until the stunning season finale. I, for one, cannot get enough of this show. It has had me in its grasp for a long time, but only now has it captured me hook, like, and sinker. It is brilliant, nuanced, beautiful, and beautifully acted, with an incredibly twisted and mind-bending storyline and some of the most loveably messed-up characters ever devised. The dialogue is without compare, the allusions deep and intense, the subtlety meticulous, and the love and hate so palpable you can almost taste it. Or smell it, at least. It is gory without being excessive, and brilliant without being pretentious. Don't let it be the one that got away. Prepare yourself, and tuck in to the second course of the most deliciously disturbing show on television.
