A must for any serious survival kit.
Very effective. The cotton wool supplied with it is quite generous quantity wise. I'd suggest mixing the cotton wool with a little Vaseline. That makes it a very useful flame extender in it's own right.

Genuine Firestarter in Every sense of the word! Genuine!
For The Military. These Strips have been around for awhile. Very cool these are now available to the rest of the world. They fold flat, are waterproof, and even spark and burn more if the get wet. I decided to push these to their limits, break them down "I tinker with things that way" and create up to 96 individual Fire-starters with one kit and each of the pieces burned for 45sec - just over a min. Best Benefit to me is the fact that are multi-purpose. They a great fire starters however, they can help lubricate zippers, clean moving parts with firearms, and so on. Accounting for Reliability, Convenience, Ease of Use, and Portability. These are definitely a Must Have.

Overpriced and over-hyped.
These strips burn quit nicely, but they are not very easy to get started and they give of some serious smoke. For tinder you're better off with cotton balls or char or something like that, but once one of these is lit it burns well and is pretty wind-resistant. Great for use with a lighter, not so good with a fire steel. The ONLY advantage to these strips is the fact you can easily carry one in your wallet (as I do now). Overall, I think they're overpriced for what they do. Soak some cotton balls in Vaseline and you'll get results at least as good for a lot less money.

Great product!
Easy and it WORKS Very little spark needed if you use the cotton to ignite the sere strip. American made is a plus! I've used these strips quite a few times and they always light, even in the rain. Takes up no space at all. Keep them in your pocket. Highly recommend these tender strips.

Does what it's supposed to do
So I've recently decided, hey, I should carry around a fire starter kit on my keychain. I like to be prepared. Well, I found starting a fire using just moss/weeds/etc., to be next to impossible. I know keep one of these strips in my wallet and a tiny starter kit on my keychain. It catches sparks quickly and stays burning for a good long time (more than a minute). Just make sure you have your kindling and larger pieces of firewood once you get this going and you'll have no problems getting a fire going.
