Does the job, but crudely
These hearing-aid type devices will definitely improve your hearing if you have loss in one or both ears. However, I found the sound quality to be crude. Even at the lowest settings it amplifies all sounds a lot, and with a tinny, echo-ey quality. I could even hear myself breathing more than normal. They were at their worst when I was listening to music on my computer. The music in the amplified ear was slightly delayed and very tinny, with a harsh sound. However, when I put on a pair of over-the-ear headphones, the sound was far better. On another occasion, I was using them to amplify the television volume and it was useful (though again, with tinny/echo-y sound) but when someone in the room dropped their cellphone the sound came crashing through, relatively much louder than it should have (considering their phone had a silicone case). It actually felt like the phone had landed just behind my ear.Just a note about myself: I am 65 and have felt for years that I don't hear as well as I should. I've been tested twice and do have a hearing deficit in my right ear, though both times, was told that it did not qualify my for hearing aids (just before OTC aids had been approved in the US), so I have no experience with hearing aids. Perhaps persons with more profound hearing loss won't find the sound as artificial as I generally did.

A whole lot of acreeching and not much improvement. Left side worked better than the right.
I have mild hearing loss and thought these might be useful vs getting full blown hearing aids. My experience was not good. Once turned on, the units emit a very high pitched squeel that takes several presses to turn off. So make sure you dont place these in your ears initially because it will be painful. Even after getting rid of the screeching, the units themselves still didnt provide much in the way of sound amplification. The sound either felt delayed or overdone. Whenever I would speak for instance, it was booming inside of my head. But when watching TV, it felt like I was on a delay. Overall, I cant recommend this product for most people. If you cant afford a tradiitonal hearing device, you might want to consider them.
