Yes it'll detect a signal, but you have to be 1" from the source. Put a piece of plastic over the signal source and you have to be closer. Put metal, even a thin sheet of aluminum, and you won't detect a signal even on the highest sensitivity.I tested with my cell phone and it'll only detect if the phone is in the upper right corner. Nowhere else on the phone with it detect anything. A wireless mouse, same thing, you have to be right on top of the mouse to detect a signal. Even if you're right on the source of the signal it doesn't always detect it.Magnetic detection is poor also. One rare earth magnet from an old mechanical HD will be detected 1.25" away...which means you have to been right on the device to detect it. A stack of 8 rare earth magnets can be picked up about 3" away.I haven't tried the camera detection, but my phone can handle that better with a wider field of view.Get this as novelty item and not for "peace of mind" like the bots claim.

It looks like good quality and is easy to figure out how it works, but I couldn’t understand why it detected “cameras” where there were none. I returned it, but it might have just been my fault in how I used it.

Bought this to take with us on a beach trip to check out the air bnb, and it worked fine to detect cameras on our cell phones when tested but the device had to be within 6 inches of the cell phone and pointed at the camera lens. Being near by or pointed an inch or two off from the lens and it wouldn't pick up anything. It also would not do the wifi feature when we tested at home. The manual description is minimal so we used some Amazon reviews, took it with us and hoped for the best. We didn't get any indicators at the air bnb but given the extreme close proximity we had to be with our cellphones, it was hard to know if we weren't close enough to a camera or none existed. Overall, it didn't provide the peace of mind I was looking for. I'll keep it and read more reviews and hope to figure it out better before the next trip but I was disappointed after watching several videos for similar items I would have expected it to pick up the camera on our phones from more than a few feet away (yes the sensitivity was all the way up)
