Fundamentals of ActionScript 3.0: Develop and Design (Develop and Design (Old Edition))

It's very comprehensive, well organized, and very friendly to read. The book says it's required you know how to work with a Flash project, but you really just have to know the very basics like how to work with the timeline, manipulating properties of objects, and how to test your project. The best part of this book is how the author assumes you have never seen a line of code in your life.However there is a logic error in one piece of code the author has written. If you have the book already, on page 92, those lines reading 'e.target' should really be 'e.currentTarget'. That's my only complaint, otherwise the book is pretty perfect for the actionscript newbie.

I own 5 or so books on actionscript, and this book is by far the best at teaching you from the basest beginnings to methods and other, more complex coding principles. This will not be the last book you buy on 3.0, but it should be the first. The author also has a series of about 50 videos on tv.adobe.com that run parallel to this book. I'd highly encourage you to check them out along with Fundamentals of actionscript.This is the first book that made coding in flash intuitive to me.

Has become a good step by step read to understanding ActionScript. For people who are wanting to learn Coding. Gives you a walk through project so you get use to the program and all the different settings.

Good intro to action script but it has some areas that need clarification. My tutor and I could not figure sections out.

Doug Winnie's Adobe TV series brought me into his incredibly practical teaching style, both relaxed and very on point. I have been learning and teaching ActionScript for a number of years and this is the first book I have had that really provides an effective workflow for learning ActionScript 3.0. Thanks Doug!
