Prepare to be immersed
After having enjoyed PBS's Poldark series, reading the books intrigued me. "Reading" this series has become code for "immersing" myself in the fascinating 18th century world of Cornwall that I might have never discovered but for PBS's spot-on interpretation of Winston Graham's ambitious work. Let me state that I am "older" and am done with all my literary heavy-lifting. This doesn't mean I've consigned myself to pap either. Somewhere in the middle are books like the Poldark series (and Trollope) that reflect historical accuracy while providing societal and cultural commentary and entertaining with, simply stated, a good story. At this juncture, I shall leave more sophisticated and intellectual literary critique to those who enjoy this kind of analytical word-smithing. I'm here to sell the point that the Poldark series is both stimulating and entertaining.Insofar as being satisfied reading just Book 1, I suggest that you do not fool yourself that this paltry effort will sate your appetite. Buy the first three...or the first six...but plan on savoring the dozen.

Love them, excellent stories
Having watched the first season of Poldark on Amazon I found out there were these books. They do not disappoint! I have read the first 2 which basically takes you through the first season of Poldark. The writing is easy to read and very entertaining. Highly recommend. Have very much enjoyed these books

I love reading book series Outlander
Came across season 1 on PBS and decided to give it a try. I love reading book series Outlander, Wilderness and now Polddark . Can't order books fast enough to keep up with my reading. If you like love ( its not really romance , its complicated love with addition of more complicating life turns) in a historical setting.

Love this series and characters
Wonderful series, am reading these through the winter, great series. If you're a fan of the show, you will love the books! They provide so much more insight into the various characters and relationships. The depth of detail is so much deeper. The show covers two books per year, not nearly the time to develop as the books do. The heart of Demelza, the loyalty of Ross, the shallowness of Elizabeth. Even George is so much better explored and understood. Highly recommend!

Great British Series
This is a great story. I am addicted to Masterpiece Theater on PBS. I ordered this series to get the full background of what was shown on screen. Then found out there are 9 MORE books. I am hooked. Have already order the next 6 and read #4! Interesting to peak into British history during the late 1700's.

So very pleased..
Received these yesterday......were supposed to be used......but appeared to be brand new......So very pleased......price and service great.........Read half of Poldark last night......disappointed at the differences in it and the Poldark Series on PBS.....however, it is good anyway....and Aiden Turner and Eleanor Tomlinson in the TV version are so great that I don't really care.

If you watched the series on public television, these books enhance the series.
These books are so good it was hard to put them down. I loved the series on PBS and reading the books now makes it better because the series couldn't go into all the details of their lives. Couldn't put them down.

GREAT story. Bad copy.
LOVED every second of this series. It is so beautifully written and the story is jam packed with awesome tension and suspense. However, I am disappointed with these copies only because of the extreme amount of typos in the books. It’s gotten to the point where it’s distracting. If this bothers you, go for another publication.

The Poldarks lives came alive as I read.
When the TV series ended up in the air I couldn't wait to find out what happened. So I had to order all 12 books and once I started reading them I just kept reading they were so good. I just had to find out what was happening, I read through pretty fast and will have to read them more thoroughly this coming winter. Mr. Graham was so good bringing his people to life for me along with how history affected their lives from his imagination.

Enthralling reads
If you enjoyed Poldark on TV you'll enjoy these. Devoured them in no time and sent off for more.Am on the 6th now and not likely to get bored any time soon. Enjoy the Cornish history as I lived there for a while and have been to the places mentioned..Bodmin gaol must have been pretty much as it is now. I found the tv series really captured well the characters of Ross and Demelza. George Warleggan seems more attractive physically in the novels but just as nasty in personality. When I read these books first of all in the 70s they were just characters in a book but now I have faces for them!

I love Poldark - they were the first 'grown up' books ...
I love Poldark - they were the first 'grown up' books i read as a child, and as my mother 'lost' her copies some time in the last few years, I want my own collection to catch up with everything as I am hooked on the new TV series. I'm a Cornish girl through and through and cant get enough of these novels!

Great stories but too many typos!
These are fantastic stories but the publisher needs to fire the printers as I have never seen so many typos in my life! Wordsworth classics use to be bad but this was worse! Sometimes you couldn't quite follow what was being said owing to so many typos. All the books are the same.
