Great multi-purpose tool - speeds up installations
This Rain Bird ET-P1K dripline tool is a must have for working with dripline systems. It's actually a multi-purpose tool. The circular center end is used to install 1/4" barbed emitters, couplers and connects. Use the circular end to hold the rounded end of the emitter securely - it won't fall out and end up in the dirt. With the emitter inserted this way, the barbed end is pointing out. Find your mainline and center the barb on the tubing. Press with a slight twisting action to help things pierce, not collapse the tube. You can feel the barbed end slide into place. At that point, simply pull back and the emitter remains in place. No leaks and no scrappy job of multiple attempts to install. Most of all, it saves on your fingers. The slot on the side of the tool is for pulling out an unwanted 1/4" barbed emitter or connector from your mainline. Slide it under the 1/4" part and gently lift it out and away from the mainline. Finally, about that hole you just made by removing the barbed part. Don't attempt to reuse a hole. That's almost certain to be the source of a leak. Instead, this is where the "goof plugs" come in handy. They are very rubbery and will fill the hole nicely. How do you get that in? Turn the tool around and use the small hole on the handle end. This lets you see how you're doing and provides nice, even pressure to press the goof plug into the existing hole.

Tool works great
Tool does exactly what its supposed to do...let you install drip line emitters into the main rubber line. Much easier than my old method of using pliers.

An effective tool for installing drippers
All-in-all an effective tool. I laid out approximately 50 ft of 1/2 inch drip hose. Inserted 30 or so drippers. Required the same force as pushing in without any tool - I did not pre punch a hole to insert into, why make an extra step. Care must be taken that the dripper is held in with the free hand to keep the dripper from falling out of the tool. The big advantage is that with the leverage your fingers and hands will not fatigue and you’ll not has slight mishaps as making holes that won’t secure the dripper properly or pinching your fingers or kinking the hose.

Speeds up drip installation
This tool is sturdy and saves a lot of time and pain when inserting drip emitters into plastic tubing. Trying to push an emitter into a tube without this tool is time consuming and painful for your hand. With this tool, it takes maybe 2 seconds to install an emitter. and it is pain-free. This is well worth the cost.

Game Changer!
Before I bought this, I spent hours attaching emitters to my irrigation line. After some research, I decided to give this a try. I went from using a plier and lots of effort to just a few seconds and with ease. No need to pre punch the line, this item pierces and snaps the emitter submtaneously. Glided in like butter!

Useful tool
We bought a new house and the backyard sprinkler system was broken beyond repair. Even with professional help, I was unable to locate the sprinkler valves for the back yard. So instead I set out to research and install my own drip irrigation to automate the watering process, mostly because I am way too lazy to water my backyard every other day. I chose the rainbird family of products because of the positive reviews and the plethora of options. I chose drip emitters for the trees and shrubs in my yard. I chose 1/2 in tubing for the systems backbone. Then 1/4 in tubing to run out to the individual plants, flowers, trees, shrubs... There are two ways you can install them. You can install them straight into the 1/2 in tubing, like I did. The other way is to install a 1/4 in coupler into the 1/2 in tubing, then run a 1/4 tube to the plant. Then connect the drip emitter at that end. I chose this configuration because some people complain about the water pressure pushing the emitter off the end of the tubing. I bought this tool in order to push the barbed end of the emitters into the 1/2 in tubing. + Good price. + Very easy to use. Snap the colored side of the emitter into the middle of this tool. Then use the leverage of the tool to push the black barbed end of the emitter into the hole you punched into the 1/2 in tubing. I personally dislike special tools, but they are only a couple bucks each. I saved a ton of money by doing this project myself ($250 total cost), so to me it was worth it to get this specialized tool. + Very happy with the performance so far. - Nothing thus far. I am very happy with the performance of this tool. Ill update this review as necessary.

Great tool!
Had a puncture tool that came with my emitters, but it was small and not suited for using many times or ergonomically designed. This tool has multiple uses and is designed properly allowing a person to use force without hurting their hand.

value
worked pretty good though it was easier to push them in by hand, barb doesn't stay in the holder, it just falls out.

I ordered a RainBird drip irrigation system, part by part, to water my vegetable garden (with large raised beds). One of the challenges we face is that we move the vegetables from bed to bed each year, and so it used to take a lot of time to adjust and rebuild our old system as the plants changed places. With my new RainBird system I was able to set up a single long 1/4" drip tubing (with 6" hole spacing) for each bed so that it can be laid out quickly around all the plants, the closer the spacing the more water etc.. The backbone of the system is a 1/2" main line where I used a bunch of T's and L's to smoothly run the main pipe under the soil, popping up a branch over the edge of each raised bed. I used 1/4" barbed coupling fittings (get the purple RainBird tool for these!) to connect the 1/4" drip tubing to the 1/2" main line branches. All connections went together really well, the pieces are consistent, I have not found any leaks, and best of all I was able to install on my own in under 2 hours, including burying the main line pipe! I am very satisfied, and would strongly recommend this product.
