Permatex 27037 Optimum Black Gasket Maker, 3 oz

I used this to plump up the sunroof gasket on my Jaguar XF's glass roof seal. It doesn't leak water, but wind noise has been annoying since day one... I finally ran a thin bead of this around the outside of the seal, where it meets with the roof and gently thinned it with my finger. No more wind noise, and the goo stays attached to the existing base gasket. Problem solved. I've used this on other things in the past as well, gas tank neck seal for hedge trimmer, anybody who's had to work on those tanks know how sloppy they are these days... little dab of this stuff, no more leaks! It doesn't stink, and it cleans up well as long as you're quick about cleaning up. I have no complaints, it does exactly what it needs to do!

These sealants work great.

I brought this gasket maker when I was changing my CRV engine gasket. Very easy apply, dry very quick and adhesion very well. So far I don't see any issues and durability is good. It's very easy use making gasket and comes with everything you need. Good price for quality products.

I can't say this stuff is easy to remove once applied as the only time I had to remove a piece I had used the product on it put up a heck of a fight coming off. That proved that it had created a tight seal which is what I wanted. Vibration wasn't going to lossen it that's for sure. Application can be messy if you get in a hurry but its ability to create a tight seal with a firm holding power would be hard to duplicate this side of a weld.

I have used Permatex products for years. I tried the Optimum Black because it's supposed to have the highest oil resistance. The product works well. The only issue is that you have to be careful of the cure times. At lower temperatures this sealant will take more than 24 hours to cure. I used it on a valve cover in a garage that was 45 degrees and it took several days to fully cure.

Bead maker out of a tube is really hard to despense and make a nice one piece bead. The seal is still holding tho.

Really good product and easy to work with. It applies nicely, forms a good seal and does exactly what you'd expect from a gasket maker. The black finish is neat and it seems to be good quality compared to some of the cheaper alternatives I've used.

Best gasket maker " silicone" on the world market. Very generous on the assembly time,unlike most that set up in just a few minutes.

Used this to seal an oil pan when I changed a rear main crankshaft seal. These don't use gaskets so you need RTV for them. Hasn't leaked in months now. Good product
