Not for the retail trader
Convoluted, complex, dry, dull, impractical and not for the retail trader. If you fancy university level calculus and academic, theoretical approach to things, then you will enjoy this as an exercise in nerdy-ness. But if you're looking for a practical, real-life focused book which will help you make use of volatility in your trading, then this is not it.I'm sure quants in investment banks will see this as their bible, and that's fair enough. But for a Joe-trader, it is of no value.

Great book if you are a derivative trader
This book is full of deep insights conveyed in the most intuitive way. This is only feasible when the writer has an unbelievably deep understanding of vol. huge fan!

Amazing read for experienced traders
Amazing resource, if you have experience and a sharp mind. Definitely NOT for starters or free time traders.

Missing target audience
This book misses clearly the target audience it claims. It is even too difficult too understand even for an advanced option trader who is not professionally working as a quant. The greatest weakness of the book is that it lacks practical examples to execute the proposed strategies with a retail broker. I feel that this can in most cases be only traded with professional trader access not available for private traders

this book is a terrific resource. It landed on my doorstep yesterday afternoon ...
If you are interested in the way active traders in, well, anything with optionality, view their world, this book is a terrific resource. It landed on my doorstep yesterday afternoon and I have already spent an enjoyable and enlightening evening paging through this work with the dog at my side. I know it will survive many further perusals. As others have pointed out, it finds a happy median between "Options for Dummies" and "Some Book By a Prof. Who Wants To Throw Equations At You." The math in this book is all of the distilled E = mc^2 variety that reveals fundamental truths. A must for hedge fund veterans who rely on options vol to finance their kid's trip to Harry Potter World, like me.

informative
I've had to jump around in the book to find the meaning of certain terms. Maybe I'm too dumb for this book, but it has the information just not the 1st time you read about the term. All in all very informative, I'm working through it like a workout more than a read thru.
