Not what I expected. Saw a show on PBS where they used this book to visit and describe places in the book. Its a good reference book but found it hard to read and just enjoy. Print is very small cluttered. Not what I expected but others may enjoy. Not the clear history book I was seeking.

Excelente guia e historia de las ciudades de EEUU y Canadá muy ameno al leer,excelentes ilustraciones a tinta. Es una pena que no sea en español para los que no saben ingles. Me ha sorprendido gratamente sus planos de las ciudades de aquella epoca y sus mapas de todo los territorios por donde pasaban los ferrocariles,tal como lo cuenta Michael Portillo en sus documentales. ¡¡Lastima la gráfica un poco pequeña!!

Mi sono innamorata della Appleton's General Guide dopo aver visto la trasmissione su Rai 5 con Michael Portillo. L'ho acquistata semplicemente perché adoro gli Stati Uniti d'America ! Consegna, come sempre da parte di Amazon, impeccabile !!

Great book, arrived in perfect condition. It's hardcover, has some maps and old illustrations. Keep in mind that this is a replica of the almanac, not a history or non fiction book.

I watched Michael Portillo and his Railway journeys through the U.S.A assisted by his Appletons guide, and wanted the guide, and as it happens it is a terrific read,very informative and as I love the U.S.A it is just brilliant to learn more on the history of the Cities etc.
