Eye opening!
Added the other info and experiences in seeking medical advice it was very helpful! Read it and going to reread it! Some doctors are good some shouldn't be in practice. A few are Gods. I have been luck enough to me a few of them. Thankfully they undo the damage of lesser beings. Good read to the point of discouragement but it also a guide how to seek a higher understanding. Hope it helps you!

Add 5-10 healthy years to your life by reading this book
This is an outstanding book that starts with the very biggest of pictures of our food supply and all is wrong with it and guides us through simple steps to dramatically improve our chances for living a healthier life, longer. Eliminating the hateful eight C. Doyle groups, choosing organic food, always, and cutting down on sugar and carbs to very low levels. Will help you get the health you want with weight loss as a very nice side benefit.Be prepared to throw everything in your pantry out and start over because they’re all cooked with cheap harmful oils! These will all be easy choices for you by the time you finish the book. Good luck !

Fantastic book
If you read this book and still digest carbs wholesale, you’re not listening. He does get a little “medical and technical”, especially in later chapters, but it is well written, convincing and backed with a ton of research.I certainly changed my eating habits!

Necessary read for good health
Very informative and should be required reading. A bit difficult to understand some of the technical terms. The follow up should be whether one’s particular genetics play a role in our body being able to process the food we ingest. Does the particular environment, and the food eaten by our particular ancestors, affect how we process food in our bodies? For example, most Asians eat white rice every day but are not overweight and have longer lives than Americans.

fascinating information
The information on metabolic dysfunction & nutrition coincides with other authors I’ve read. I am a retired RN, BSN & was once a certified oncology hospital nurse. So much rings true. I wish I could ask the Doc to what degree caffeine triggers insulin response. I also was taken aback by the final chapter. I am always a bit cynical about promotion of “nutritional supplements “. I prefer to avoid pharmaceuticals & expensive diet aids. Otherwise, savored the message the rest of the book offered. Easy to follow & reasonably supported. Big Pharma & Big Food won’t like it much, & neither will people who don’t want to hear the message. In the end, people are often determined to believe what they prefer to believe.

Fantastic read
was recommended by a friend, but he got it on Kindle and couldn't share it, so I had to order it.I like to think I pick up on concepts pretty well, but some of the science was way over my head. He tried successfully, I think, to make it palatable to the general public, in terms of basic concepts.I would have liked to see some kind of a flow-chart to show the progression all the way from mTOR to the various diseases that elevated insulin contributes to or causes (if you're reading this Dr. Lufkin, I here by request it! :) )There is enough confidence and accuracy here to compel me to make some life changes, though I admit I have Yo-Yo'd three times before from 280 lbs and up down to 220 lbs, with Atkins and WeightWatchers. I've already been practicing the time-honored "E.L.F" diet for the last couple of months and have shed a great deal of weight, but the lifestyle change is key.Two key points stick out to me: using ketosis to my advantage by eating more protein-centric meals, and eating fewer meals in a shorter time-frame, period. It won't be easy, but armed with the cautionary information within these pages, I hope to have the motivation to stick with it this time.Would recommend.

Affirmation Of The Low Carb Lifestyle
Dr Robert Lufkin is one of my favourite follows on X, and his regular bursts of useful information of surprising scandals including scientists being paid off, the two ugliest words in the health epidemic "Ancel Keys" and importantly his avoid lists that focus mainly on seed oils that he refers to as the "Hateful Eight"Lies I Taught In Medical School is more an "affirmation" than a revelation for me, but I must disclose I have a thirst for knowledge on diet, health and exercise. After an exhaustive and enjoyable effort, I've taken the Carnivore path. Lufkin doesn't push the case for either vegan or carnivore and this is admirable in a social media world of infighting, false claims, memes, and somewhat harmless banter. He puts forward the information that is supportive to both, based on the benefits of eating "pure" foods minus sugars, grains, processed carbohydrates and as mentioned previously seed oils. The strong argument based on "metabolic health" being the leading cause of chronic diseases is an eye opener, along with dismissing the belief that LDL cholesterol is the primary culprit in heart disease. He delves into cancer and mental health that again are impacted by poor metabolic health, and clearly processed foods in particular with high breast cancers in the US as opposed to Japan. The Japanese eat a lot more fish, fresh vegetables and less foods with a label. Sleep is critical and Lufkin strongly suggests a routine and getting between 7-8 hours for optimal well-being.The book can get a little technical, and I found myself lost in the terminology. There is a sales pitch at the end and suggested supplements that are focused on anti-aging. It's up to the reader to choose their own adventure in the world of biohacking. An essential book that will add a layer of support to those who have already discovered the immense benefits of adjusting their diets against the outdated Standard American and Australian Diets (SAD indeed). Two areas I will look into further is FMD and the research on rapamycin. Those who have heavily researched the carnivore way-of-life and adopted it shouldn't be too surprised with the contents of the book.Congratulations Robert on this achievement, and building your social media presence with potential life changing information as opposed to the disposable content that gets all the attention.

Great book
Dr. Lufkin is right. Medical schools and doctors continue to push low fat, high carb diets. This diet has produced obesity & metabolic dysfunction & diseases globally across every age demographic & culture where it's been introduced. He doesn't footnote as much as I'd like however, I did some fact checking, it's just like he says. Relatively easy read. A few technical sections are difficult to follow but thankfully short. Would have liked more depth on mental illness and chronic stress. Glad someone is bringing attention to this important subject. The road to good health starts in your pantry not the pharmacy. A good prescription for life style changes that will ensure a long, healthy life.
