Solid AM5 choice in this price range
When I switched to the AM5 socket I got this CPU at first while I was waiting to get my hands on a 9800X3D. It worked just fine for the time that I used it and was actually surprisingly faster than I expected it to be for a little bit more of an entry-level CPU. I did finally get a hold of the 9800X3D so I no longer use this, but I did not return it and will keep it as a back up in case I have a very rare CPU failure and need something on my board in the meantime of getting the other one replaced if I would have to RMA in the future.

Might need to update the bios!
The media could not be loaded. Great processor. For work and entertainment. Plus integrated graphics, standard cooling copes perfectly. Easy to install. Price-quality determines the choice.

Good low cost cpu.
I bought this cpu to ensure that I could update the bios on an ASUS strix x670e-f motherboard that I wanted to run a Ryzen 9 9950x cpu in. (The default bios was not supposed to support a Ryzen 9 processor.) It turned out that I could update the bios with the Ryzen 9 installed. Later I found out that the motherboard did not support thunderboltEX4 either. I had to buy another motherboard with usb4 built in. So, I decided to build an additional "stripper" pc because I now had a spare motherboard and cpu. No video card I used the onboard video from the processor. It has no problem driving 2 monitors. I used the stock air cooler that was included with the cpu. (I did add a couple more case fans to ensure that enough air would flow through the case.) Now I have 2 new computers!

Perfect for gaming!
I recently built a PC with this absolute powerhouse of a CPU, and it has great quality, considering its value for the price. My PC performs very fast and well with this CPU, and best of all, it is silent!

Good For Tight Budgets
The Ryzen 5 8500G is not something I'd recommend for anyone who can afford a little extra to go for the Ryzen 5 8600g. However, it is still a good processor and it does what I need it to. I was on a very strict budget and the 8600g was outside of it. The good about the Ryzen 5 8500g is that it is a fast CPU with great onboard graphics. The main two problems I have with it are its limited PCIE lanes, making it terrible for upgrading to a dedicated GPU later down the lines, and the fact that its price is son similar to the 8600g that it makes more sense to buy that. The 8600g has enough PCIE lanes to afford a good dedicated GPU later down the line and it is slightly more powerful.

Very Slow compared to the 8500F. I made a serious error when I bought these
I bought 3 of these and it was a serious mistake. The on board video make them run much slower when compared to the same CPU without on board video. They use about half of the CPU processing power to run the on board video. Now I need to sell them on ebay and buy the same CPU without on board video. (I have tested them side by side)
