One of the very few books available on helping to develop young (under 5) gifted children
There aren't many books that deal with gifted young children. I initially hesitated buying this book because it was published a while back, but I found it very useful. I wish I had read it before my daughter was born, although it was nice to know that I had been doing some of the things that the author suggested in relation to babies. I found out after buying it that it was in the list of recommended books by charity Potential Plus :).

Useful for parents of all young children - not just the gifted
Joan Freeman has a docorate in Child Psychology and is also a parent, so she is well placed to write such a book. It is basic, but readable. It would be worth reading for all parents of young children...it is not just for parents of the very able. Among other sections, there is useful advice on the following:friendshipslanguage developmentcreativityreadingnumbersmotivationsucceeding at schoolI would recommend it as an introductory text.
