is this rail low enough for you to use the iron sights if no scope is mounted?

If i dont have screw holes on my gun, how do I install this?

Most Ruger 10/22 ship with screws and holes already mounted on the rifle. They also ship with their version of a rail mount in the box. Based on the recommendations of many I bought a second party rail mount and mounted it with the screws supplied by them. I removed the screws already in the 10/22. If there are no holes drilling is your only option by a master gunsmith, and the cost would be as much as the gun, I'm guessing. The mount may not properly fit a rifle that is not a 10/22.
