A fascinating read!
This book is an abundant variety of thirty short real-life stories that uncover the authentic Italy. As the author lives amongst Italians he knows much about them and readers gain a better understanding of the Italian mentality and the incredible people who inhabit Italy. It was nice to know about the fact that Italians have a hobby for food. Also meet a real estate agent who lies as easily as he breathes. His schemes and manipulations make for an intriguing character study, revealing the darker side of Italian charm. Overall, I loved this book and I highly recommend it.

A bit disjointed
I quite liked this book as I visit Italy regularly and can identify with a lot of the things mentioned. However, I did find the book a little strange as there wasn’t a flow from one chapter to the next and although the people mentioned were quite recognisable as archetypal Italians it just didn’t resonate with me

An Italian Tapestry Woven from Everyday Lives
Néster’s writing is vivid and unpretentious, capturing the quirks and passions of his characters with an easy elegance that lets the stories shine. From the market vendor with a treasure trove of recipes to a charmingly deceptive real estate agent, each story paints a vivid portrait of a country where life is rich in flavor, wit, and warmth. And the "pearls" sprinkled throughout the book—QR codes linking to video walks and other surprises—add a unique layer, making the experience immersive and unforgettable.

An atmospheric, quirky insight into Italian life
An intimate, atmospheric insight into the culture of Italy through a collection of largely gastronomical stories, each one an insight into Italian life through the experiences of the author and those they’ve encountered. Sometimes quirky, sometimes bordering-tragic, it’s a very layered collection which feels just the right length.

A fantastic book for those interested in the real Italy!
The media could not be loaded. The author has done an incredibly authentic job of portraying Italians. While reading the book, you recognize many scenes that actually happen around you in Italy almost every day. It's a very accurate depiction! Moreover, it describes things that you can't grasp just by visiting Italy as a tourist for a week or two. You need to either be born there or live in Italy for some time at least. Each chapter is titled with a character's name (almost every chapter, no spoilers here), but the book contains much more than just life stories. It unveils the philosophy of the locals and draws attention to many details that are often overlooked in the fast pace of life. You can feel the author's sincere and immense interest in Italians, as well as the same immense love for them. I also want to note that the book is an easy read and is full of good humor. Some chapters literally had me laughing out loud. The book is of a compact size, easily fitting into your bag during travels.Overall, I definitely recommend it!
