I bought this for my four year old son to work on his numbers before he starts kindergarten and it was a hit! It didn't last very long in my house, but that's more to do with it being owned by a four year old. He loves it!

Little Genius Mental ArithmeticComes with directions, though the text is small and there are spelling/ grammatical errors, but was easy enough to figure out by just fiddling with the buttons as the device gives spoken word audio cues such as stating the name of the game and the rules of the game.There are 4 game buttons- Game button (far left) Memory game (gives 3 digits to remember and type back in), smallest/ largest number (pick from 3 digits), number sequencing (what comes next, ie: 4-8-12-?). Then it has “Strategies” where it reads out math facts for the four basic processes.- Single digit addition/subtraction. Game 1 comparing: 1+2 ? 5 (answer would be <). Game two is just answering problems- Double digit addition/ subtraction has the same two games listed above.- Multiplication and Division: same two games as before. Working within numbers 0-100.You can adjust the volume by holding the volume +/- button for about 2 secondsYou can adjust the timer for games by pressing the power/ timer button and cycle between 5 second response time, 10 second or untimed.For all games, if you get an answer wrong a buzzer sounds and the screen flashes the correct answer. When you get the answer right it chimes and gives a verbal compliment like “bingo!” There really isn’t winning or losing. When I played around with the memory game it just had a few problems and then the difficulty level increased.Unfortunately, it does not function as a calculator as I had hoped it would. Nonetheless. my 9 year old math loving kid enjoys it! For $10 (aka cost of 2 happy meals, at present time) my kid says 5 stars.Because it cannot function as a calculator I have rated 4 stars. It’s good for what it is but it is not a calculator as advertised.

My son (who is an autistic 4 year old with a special interest in math) likes the games, but it doesn't function as an actual calculator. I would not have bought this knowing that, as now I'll also need to purchase him a calculator as well.

I've been using this calculator for my homeschooling of my 7yo and he finds it very fun and easy to use. I write out a problem on the screen, then ask him to solve it by hand, then using the calculator to confirm he got it right. He loves using it and is learning math much quicker than his older brother did (without the benefit of this tool). It works great for our homeschool.

Worked great for the little ones to learn with. Honestly she got distracted and kinda lost track of the 'learning' aspect and just started playing. But, for what it is, can't complain!

The media could not be loaded.  Personally we were not a fan of this. The games and challenges this has are more towards a 3rd-6th grade level but it’s marketing and made to look like it should be for kids younger. The pen falls out way too easily and doesn’t even have a hole and string to keep it together. I also was not expecting the noise level to be as loud as it is and there’s no controls of it.
