Istanbul Complete Set Turkish Language Course Books 5 Books for Beginner to Advanced Levels: A1 A2 B1 B2 C1

While I have good books for studying Turkish (Like The Delights of Studying Turkish) I was looking for a systematic, step-by-step,language-class, approach. These texts cover levels from A1 to C1. So far, I have been able to cover the material in the A1 level without help from a teacher. Yes, I would recommend these books, complemented by the Pimsleur course and others (like the above mentioned TDoLT).

Turkish isn't a very common language to learn in the U.S., and Turkish teachers are hard to find in many places. Thus, many previous reviewers hoped to teach themselves Turkish with these books. Some criticized this set because it's not useful for self study, due to the lack of English translation. However, these books are actually are very useful--and NEEDED--if you have a teacher, as I do. If you can't find a Turkish-language teacher, there's an app called "Preply" that connects you to affordable, rated foreign-language teachers whom you meet with virtually, online. My Preply-based teacher has great reviews, and she's wonderful! I'm making progress! But without these books or similar, she'd have to create her own teaching materials. So please don't give these books bad reviews just because you can't teach yourself Turkish with them-- that isn't their intended purpose! They're very helpful and needed when used in a class-- whether for private or group instruction. The price is also excellent on Amazon. Textbooks.com charges over $50 for just the A1 level books alone (including the workbook), while this set has all five levels of books with workbooks for $100.

Nice learning books however if you do not speak anything in Turkish these books are not for you unless you are enrolled in some class as they are completely in the Turkish language, wish I had known that before I purchased them!!

I don't know how anyone without prior language knowledge can learn from this at all... Everything is in Turkish! It seems more like it was designed for Turkish schoolchildren as opposed to foreign adults. How am I supposed to get started with a coursebook when 99% OF THE INSTRUCTIONS are in Turkish?! The only time English is used is to explain a concept that doesn't exist in English. Thanks for the English tidbit, BUT WHAT DOES EVERYTHING ELSE MEAN?! There are NO pages where anything is translated into English and I am guessing that you are supposed to have a teacher (?) or depend on using Google translate for everything (?). The picture I added is just an example of how there is a list of vocab to be learned in that Unit, yet no definitions of ANY of the words! (And trust me, I looked everywhere for definitions!) If I need to constantly be on the internet to even start to understand ANYTHING the unit is trying to explain, then I definitely do not need a $120+ "coursebook" that isn't explaining anything to me! Would definitely NOT recommend to anyone beginning to learn this language at home. If you are Turkish and you want coursebooks to teach your foreign-born children their mother tongue then these are for you.

À première vue, des manuels très bien conçus pour progresser de débutant à avancé. Belles illustrations, textes intéressants, versions sonores et scripts fort utiles. Ce serait fort utile, cependant, de pouvoir télécharger des lexiques dans sa langue maternelle correspondant au vocabulaire à apprendre pour chaque unité. D'avoir un professeur pour accompagner l'apprenant est souhaitable, bien qu'un autodidacte déterminé puisse aussi apprendre beaucoup à partir de ces excellentes ressources (les livres du maître avec les solutions sont téléchargeables en ligne chez l'éditeur), surtout si d'autres manuels avec traduction ont servi d'introduction à la langue turque.

Books came fast, very well packed, and with a small present helpful for learning Turkish. I am happy with all of it.

Laut Beschreibung werden die Bücher mit CDs geliefert. In Wirklichkeit gibt es keine CDs. Ich muss jetzt die ohne CD gelieferten Bücher auf eigene Kosten in die Türkei zurückschicken. Wäre die Produktbeschreibung nicht täuschend gewesen, hätte ich mir diese Kosten sparen können.

The set arrived within a few days in perfect conditions (5 books, 5 workbooks, 5 cds, and a little gift). These books are really useful for a foreigner (the grammar explanations are in english). I really recommend the full set because it's worth the price. (Of course it's easier to learn with a turkish language teacher, but that's true for any language) And another thing: as in a previous review mentioned, the words in the vocabulary (at the end of every unite) are in only Turkish, but the online globse transalator can help this. In my opinion that's one of the best word transalators BUT! that's good for only words...the sentence transalator part of the globse is terrible :D

Me encanta! Así se puede aprender, como en otros idiomas, por niveles y con muchas ilustraciones, como para niños. He leído que alguno está enfadado porque no ha recibido CD. En mi oferta no lo indicaban pero para mi alegria, las partes de escuchar tienen código QR y al escanearlo te sale la audición. Comodisimo. Muy contenta con mi material que ha llegado más rápido de lo previsto y en perfecto estado
