This beautiful-sounding glockenspiel is quite suitable for all ages, even adults,as long as you don't mind not having all the accidentals. The sound is LOVELY --Beautiful and bell-likeIt is in tune, and is easy to play. It is actually an 11-bar instrument, with 2 extrabars: F sharp and B flat. The range is from a C to the F an octave and a halfabove the C. It comes with 2 wooden mallets, which fit nicely onto the side.Sonor makes high-quality xylophones and glockenspiels.The only difference between this child's glockenspiel and an adult's is thatthis child's glockenspiel has a plastic, not wooden, resonator, and the barsare plain steel, not a special alloy, and it has fewer bars. (It also costs a lotless than a fancier glockenspiel or xylophone.)I am really enjoying learning to play this lovely instrument!

For the price I was not expecting something that looked like a toy. It's fine, but not even as a beginner's instrument unless it's for a child.

Although this xylophone was a little smaller than I expected, the quality of it more than makes up for any momentary disappointment I might have had. This is precision tuned and the pitch is spot on. It comes with two extra bars so that you can play in the keys of C, F and G which greatly expands what can be played on it. And the sound is absolutely beautiful. I bought this as a gift for my granddaughter's 4th birthday to encourage her budding musicianship, and I finally had to physically wrest it from my husband so that I could get it wrapped in time! He wouldn't stop playing it because the sound was so pure and beautiful. Great job, Hohner!

Everyone in the family loves this glockenspiel. My husband is a music major and he says the tones are very good. I have been learning new songs on it and play them for my (nearly 1-yr old) granddaughter. She loves to bang on the keys with the sticks and even runs them up and down the keys after her father showed her how to do it. (I placed small wads of gorilla tape over the ends of the sticks so that she doesn't hurt herself if she happens to get them close to her face.

I got this for my 4 year old sister and she absolutely loves it. Although I would not recommend it for a child her age because the keys can easily come off, she is taking really good care of it, so I am not worried. The sound is incredible, the item is of very high quality and I would highly recommend it for a anyone who enjoys music. I am very happy with the product.

I am trying to interest my grandson in music and hoped this would be a starting place, but it is too much of a "toy " for what I had in mind. Am returning it.

We replaced a crude Melissa & Doug xylophone that our nearly 4 year old boy showed interest since being a baby. I researched a bit and decided on this pricey German product. What a difference! This sounds professional and both parents and the kid rotate playing with it. It's quite loud too so beware. It comes with two "sticks" which is handy when two people want to play together or if one breaks
