Same as all other sub $100 kayak racks
This j bar set is definitely worth it for the price. All of the sub $100 kayak racks appear to the same. I bought another set for my wife's car, for $85-90 a few month. They were branded differently on the box, but identical to these.They're time consuming to put together, and you're likely to need extra hardware to be secure on you're vehicle. I mounted these to my truck rack and needed longer 10mm bolts and additional lock nuts.As long as you get them to tighten securely to your roof or truck rack, they'll hold the kayaks as well as any other j bars.

Overall I am happy with the two J-Racks for transporting my kayaks. The price was very good. My only complaint is that their was a problem with the hardware to mount the racks to my roof-rack. I sent several messages to the seller via Amazon requesting they send me 1 replacement bolt, 1 nut and 1 knob/nut combination. My request for these parts were due to a defective bolt that had a crossed thread at it's tip which caused the two nuts to become cross threaded. My simple request was ignored.

Poor quality!!! Could have caused death!!!
Quality is terrible!!! Bottom mounting bracket bent and caused the kayak to fly off the roof!!!! So lucky it didnt hit another car and cause an accident!! I got lucky and nobody was harmed but it could have been worse! Do not buy!

Works well with some modifications
I had to add some foam to the bottom to firm up the clamps but they hold my kayaks well. I may purchase some wingnuts to replace the knobs as I do not trust the plastic ones.

After I put a pair of channel locks on the fasteners that's snugged them up real tight and sturdy. Would not have been able to accomplish sturdiness ...
For the price they work as should. If your roof rack bars aren't that thick then they won't clamp on. My roof rack bars are about 1.5" thick and they barely hold when tightening them down by hand. Other than that they do exactly as they're supposed to do.
