Inspiring and encouraging - Dr. Golds own personal story on burnout is arguably the best part
Jessi says out loud what we’re all thinking on the inside but are too [scared, shy, embarrassed, ect] to feel or put into words, let alone share with the world. Intertwined with the stories of those she cares for, are her own experiences as a physician too, which for me, was honestly the best part of the book. Her writing incredibly relatable, refreshing, and comforting. In sharing her story, and those of healthcare workers she cares for, she normalizes conversations on mental health and the emotional toll this field takes on us in a way that makes you feel seen, understood, and leaves you wanting to tell your story too. This is a must read for anyone in healthcare, as well as those who aren’t so that they can better understand what goes on behind closed doors/laptops!

Mental health, health care, self care and care giving
This book follows the path of Dr Jessi Gold- an academic psychiatrist and burn out expert - as she cares for students and healthcare workers during the peak of the pandemic. She learns to care for herself, and to accept herself—big feelings, diagnoses, flaws and all. This book is an easy read, with references to medical literature and pop culture intertwined. The book is ideal for anyone interested in mental health, healthcare, self care, or care giving.

An essential and inspiring read
This a moving and important memoir that follows Dr. Gold and four of her patients as they navigate burnout and other mental health issues during the pandemic. I am not a healthcare provider, but I nevertheless found the stories incredibly relatable and helpful. It's a fantastic read for anyone who has struggled with burnout, anxiety, depression, or perfectionism... or who wants to understand more about how working in healthcare can shape mental health and wellness.

Dr. Gold gives an inside look into the broken system that healthcare providers train and work in everyday. Her patient stories and her own personal struggles are poignant and beautifully shared with readers. You feel their pain and celebrate their wins! I wanted to know how everyone’s story ends!
