GREAT VALUE, NICE WHETSTONE SHARPENING KIT
This is an extremely nice set with large surface whetstones. It is an incredible value for the economical price. I sharpen scissors, knives and yard tools. Today, I sharpened garden shears. Easy to use.

Great product for any level of knowledge.
Great set of entry level stones. They don’t have to be fancy to do the job though. They work as intended if you understand the aspect of working with blades and metal. Recommended! Knives are sharper than factory sharpening. The angle guide is great for beginners, however, I free hand.

SOME ELBOW GREASE REQUIRED
Depending on your purpose, you may have to work on them beforehand. I’m sure, to sharpen knives, it’s ready right out of the box but, if you plan to use them as flat stones, be sure to use the correction stone to flatten them out. Even the correction stone isn’t flat! Keeping it clear and real, and knowing these stones aren’t meant to be completely flat, they work okay and the stoning is acceptable, not the same as a purpose specific set for a machinist, what’s my case. The grit ain’t correctly matched! The higher grits aren’t close to what they should be. They are coarser than marked as. When flattening them, please do it with water, over a container to catch the residues off of the grinding process!!! Save it in a jar with water so you can use them to flatten other surfaces when rubbing them together (I.e. steel, soft metals, etc). Stones are sorta soft to what the finish one may expect. They will cut but it doesn’t sound like they should last as long as a good set, which would cost considerably more. With that in mind, it’s a good deal and savings are very clear. One may have to replace them in the future but gives you the opportunity to get experience and the feeling for sharpening/flattening the intended material. All in all, it’s a good choice, affordable, and comes with very good instructions! Don’t forget to soak them in water for 10 min before using them, but don’t let them soaking in water when not in use!!! Specially the higher/finer grits. Hope my honest review may help someone to buy the right product and make an educated decision!

Everything you need to get into sharpening
The stones are high quality and will last for years with heavy use. I was able to get a hang of it in a few hours. While their aren't super clear instructions on how to actually sharpen your knives, this was intentional because everyone seems to think they have the best method or form to use whetstones. As long as you keep the stones wet and hold the angle you are trying to, you can get great results. Stones are hard enough for my carbon steel knives but might struggle with some of the supersteel that pocket knives are starting to use more regularly. The stopping compound seems to be working very well (some people seem to think that the green compound is the worst but this one has been corse enough to remove any stubborn flakes of burr and fine enough to polish any remaining scratches or inconsistencies in tbe edge. After learning more and getting a feel for the process, their are only two things I might look for in the future to expand on this kit. A more aggressive Dimond stone to rough cut new primary bevels as it can be a slow process with the 400 grit stone if you need to remove a lot of material for knives that may have never been sharpened and a wooden strop with leather attached with adhesive. The strop from the kit can be difficult to hold on a flat surface.

Impressed!
Seriously great quality for the price. The stropping leather is a bit weak but everything else is as solid as you could ask for. Just a little time and you can shave with a pocket knife if you wanted.

Good for larger blades
The kit good quality stones. It comes with a base to help steady the stone. The strap is pretty cheap and short, however. Most importantly, I was able to sharpen my kitchen knives and they were all so sharp that the weight of the knife alone cut through a sheet of paper. Unfortunately, the type of angle setting tool that attaches to the blade does not work well on smaller blades. I have a switch blade collection and a set of steak knives that I have to manually set the angle on the stone. This left me with some uneven edges. For me, thats a pretty big let down.

The best sharpener I have used
I actually really like this. It takes a little time so definitely put some time aside before you start sharpening knives but it works really well and the knives do sharpen up nicely. This is the best one I have found from a sharpening perspective. The stone seem like they’ll last a while
