Not Becker's Best
By far the weakest of the Chris Bronson novels (all the others were quite good). Stereotype upper-class neo-nazis mixed with pseudo-science speculation about the "Glocke", a mysterious -- and perhaps non-existent -- WW II weapons project. All set during the Olympic Games in London. But very little suspense.

Typical for the genre
While Echo of the Reich is representative for the genre, it is an enjoyable read; naturally predictable in terms of the characters but still full of interesting twists and turns; this makes for a great light read, perfect for the summer.

Love Chris Bronson as a character
I have read every book James Becker has written. I love his stories and his characters. If you want something slightly different, he also writes as James Barrington. However, under this name his books are more military action and he does have a tendency to get a little over descriptive. Even with that his Pandemic book kept me up several nights.

Bronson v Modern Nazis
James Becker's fifth "Bronson" thriller is a slight break from the norm. The main focus is on Bronson himself and there is far less of ex-wife Angela (a good thing in my opinion!).I was critical in previous reviews that Bronson as a serving Police officer seemed able to drop everything and nip off with wifey on all sorts of adventures, but here we start with a focus of Bronson doing his job, although undercover. What looks like planned vandalism on the Olympic sites turns into something more sinister and Bronson has to go rogue as nobody believes his warnings. So we have Bronson on the run, investigating Nazis and a WW2 super-weapon and trying to save the London Olympics from disaster. Not bad. Some inconsistencies (the whole vandalism seems a bit pointless as a Nazi diversion strategy), some caricature bad guys and some stilted dialogue at times. But it still has lots to enjoy, a fast paced plot and entertaining action. If you enjoyed the previous books in the series you will enjoy this one I suspect. The author also writes some outstanding thrillers under a different name and the puzzle I have is that the writing styles seem to differ slightly, these books are far lighter and less gritty and even the character dialogue seems less polished for some reason. Maybe it is that the author is again enjoying mixing a bit of history with an action romp in the vein of Dan Brown, but obviously better written (as almost everything is).

readable but forgettable
anyone who really enjoyed this book should read one of desmond bagleys novels...then the shortcomings in this book will become apparent.i thought the storyline was far too convenient with everything falling neatly into place. there was no cleverness in the plot...andwhy the germans would be interested in recruiting bronson within days of activating their grand plan..thats taken years to organise..just isnt believeable.the climax...when the bomb disposal expert switches off the device...has echos of james bonds goldfinger and produced a chuckle at least.good read for anyone wanting to pass the time without needing to believe in..or become breathless over...the hero or storyline

Another success for Chris B
Having read all of his previous novels, this one was a must. Already half way trough another novel, I decided to read this first before going back to the other, and I was not disappointed. Somehow James Becker tells a story that you can visualise as you read it and keeps the action flowing throughout. Once I had started reading this one, I simply couldn't put it down. And the fact that he sets the scene first and then explains things at the end completes the picture. Never start a James Becker novel like this if you don't have time to finish it, as once started it's simply impossible to stop. Keep writing James, looking forward to the next one later in 2014 (I hope).

Ok I suppose
To be honest the book was OK but not the best book ever written. The plot was a bit predictable and there was enough clichés to sink a Nazi U-boat.Saying that it was fairly exciting in a Clive Custler boys own adventure sort of way and was enjoyable enough but I'm not sure I would look out for more from this author.

A good read from James Becker
A good read as I would have expected from James Becker. I have read all the previous Chris Bronson books and have enjoyed each. Mr Becker manages to weave fiction into fact successfully, as he appears to research well and makes a good story. However, one small detail spoilt this one - that being quite a few references to Czechoslovakia being a country still in 2012. One small slip-up (repeated a few times), which won't be enough to spoil it for everyone.

Echo of the Reich
This is an excellent story bang up to date as it contains references to the London 2012 Olympic Games . I have read previous books by James Becker and always enjoy them .
